抑駿河国賤畠山に御立有浅間大菩薩の御
本地を尋奉ルに頃ハいつ成ルらん其頃花の都に
源の玄官公と申て公家の御流おわします
御年廿三御きりやうたにこゑましませハ高キも
賤キもしたわぬ人はなかりけり然共未定ル北の方
ましまさずかゝる折ふし下野国ゟ登リし人
の申けるは我国に五万長者と申てうとく
人ましまし候姫君壱人持せ給ふ此姫みめ形
世に勝レ月にたハふれ花にめて空吹風に琴合セ

現代語訳

そもそも駿河国の富士山に御鎮座される浅間大菩薩の御本地を尋ね奉るに、時代はいつ頃であろうか。その頃、都（京都）に源の玄官公と申し上げる公家の御血筋の方がいらっしゃった。御年二十三歳で、お美しく声も美しくいらっしゃったので、身分の高い人も低い人も慕わない人はいなかった。しかしながら、まだ決まった北の方（正妻）はいらっしゃらなかった。そのような折に、下野国から上ってきた人が申すには「我が国に五万長者と申して裕福な人がいらっしゃいます。姫君を一人お持ちでございます。この姫は容貌が世に優れ、月に例えられ花に似て、空を吹く風に琴を合わせて」

Now, to inquire about the true nature of the Great Bodhisattva Asama who is enshrined on Mount Fuji in Suruga Province - what era might this have been? In those days, there lived in the capital (Kyoto) a nobleman called Minamoto no Genkan-kō, of noble lineage. He was twenty-three years old, beautiful in appearance and voice, so much so that people of both high and low station all adored him. However, he had not yet taken a principal wife (kitanokata). At such a time, a person who had come up from Shimotsuke Province said: "In our province there lives a wealthy man called Goman-chōja (the Fifty-Thousand Millionaire). He has one daughter. This princess surpasses the world in beauty, comparable to the moon, resembling flowers, playing her koto in harmony with the wind that blows through the sky..."
