哥をよみ詩を作リ朝夕に法花経どくじゆし
万やさしき姫君と申けれは玄官由を聞召シ
はや見ぬ恋に御心をなやまし給ひけるあまり
せんかたなきまゝに天にいのり給ふ様ねがわくは
是を叶へ給へさなくは命を召せとふかくきせいを
欠【あて字カ】給ふ有難や利生の印有玄官殿に下野國を給セ
給ひはや下野守に成給ふ国に入府と聞へける是は
扨置キ下野國五万長者の壱人姫有夕暮の事
成ルに御経とくしゆし給ひて御心をすましおはし
ますかゝる所に不思議や童子壱人こつせんと
来リ給ひいかに姫我は是月の桂男成ルか思ひ子
細候へは姫の躰内を借かりに人間と生レまよひの
しゆしやうを助ケンまゝたいないをかし給へと仰セあり
姫君は聞召ふしき成仰哉さりなから我いまた
定ル妻もなく身の懐躰の身とならは父母
にきこへいかなうきめにあいもやせん叶ふまじと
仰ける童子此よし聞シ召仰はさる事なき共
我望ミ叶ヒしゆしやうさいとならは姫の行末悪ケる
現代語訳
歌を詠み詩を作り、朝夕に法華経を読誦し、万事優雅な姫君だと申したので、玄官はその話を聞いて、まだ見ぬ恋に心を悩ませなさった。あまりにも切なく思い悩んだ末に、天に祈りなさって「どうか、この願いを叶えてください。そうでなければ命をお召しください」と深く祈願をなさった。ありがたいことに霊験のしるしがあって、玄官殿に下野国をお与えになり、すぐに下野守におなりになった。国に赴任するということが知れ渡った。これは一旦置いておいて。
下野国の五万長者には一人の姫がいて、夕暮れのことであったが、お経を読誦なさって心を澄ましていらっしゃった。そのような時に不思議なことに、童子が一人こつぜんと現れて「どうか姫よ、私はこれ月の桂男である。思うところがあって、姫の体内をお借りして人間として生まれ、迷いの衆生を救おうと思うので、体内をお貸しください」とおっしゃった。
姫君はお聞きになって「不思議な仰せですね。そうは言っても、私はまだ決まった夫もなく、身ごもった体となったら、父母にどう申し上げよう。どのような辛い目に遭うかわからない。お受けできません」とおっしゃった。童子はこのことを聞いて「そのようなことはない。私の望みが叶って衆生済度となれば、姫の行く末に悪いことは

She composed waka poems and wrote Chinese poetry, chanted the Lotus Sutra morning and evening, and was said to be an exceptionally refined princess. When Genkan heard this story, he fell into lovesickness for someone he had never seen. Unable to bear his anguish, he prayed to heaven, saying "Please grant this wish, or else take my life," making deep vows. Miraculously, there was a sign of divine response - Genkan was granted the province of Shimotsuke and immediately became the Governor of Shimotsuke. The wealthy man with fifty thousand koku in Shimotsuke Province had one daughter. One evening, as she was chanting sutras and purifying her mind, something miraculous happened - a boy suddenly appeared and said, "O princess, I am the man in the moon (the legendary figure who lives on the moon). I have certain intentions and wish to borrow your body to be born as a human and save sentient beings from delusion, so please lend me your body."
The princess heard this and said, "What a strange request! Even so, I have no established husband yet, and if I were to become pregnant, how could I explain this to my parents?
