○百姓・町人が金銀の品を使用することを停止する旨を、当年閏四月中に触れ出したが、これまで百姓・町人たちが心得違いなどで所持していた分については、別段咎めることはしないので、その品物を早々に金銀座へ差し出すこと。そうすれば座方において相当の代金を下げ渡す予定である。少しも隠し置かずに差し出すこと。ただし金銀座まで遠い場所の者は、領分の地頭役場へ取り集めて座方へ差し出すか、または最寄りの遠国奉行所あるいは御代官並びに御預所役所へ差し出せば、座方へ回送して相当の代金を下げ渡す予定である。この旨を心得て、領主・地頭は領分・知行に漏れがないよう申し付けること。右の通り触れ出すこと。六月

○Regarding the prohibition issued in the intercalary fourth month of this year stopping peasants and townspeople from using gold and silver items: For items that peasants and townspeople have been possessing due to misunderstandings or other reasons up until now, there will be no particular punishment. These items should be promptly submitted to the Gold and Silver Exchange (kinginza). In return, the exchange will provide appropriate monetary compensation. All such items must be submitted without concealment. However, for those in locations distant from the Gold and Silver Exchange, items may be collected at the territorial magistrate's office (jitō yakuba) for submission to the exchange, or alternatively submitted to the nearest distant province magistrate's office (ongoku bugyōsho), local deputy official (daikan), or deputy territory office (oazukari-sho yakusho), from where they will be forwarded to the exchange and appropriate compensation will be provided. Understanding this directive, domain lords and territorial magistrates must ensure complete compliance throughout their territories and holdings without exception.
