一近年ハ江戸ニ而御用被仰付候節下人之内へ雇人を指加へ勤させ候様ニ相聞候向後右体之義堅無用ニ候殊今度人数之儀被仰出候
　上ハ御定之通急度人数召連可被申候若又少々余り之人数有之候共差出被申間敷候尤不相応之場所ハ被仰付間敷候万一人数御□

一、近年は江戸において御用を仰せ付けられる際、下人の中に雇い人を加えて勤めさせているとのことが聞こえてきている。今後はこのようなことは堅く禁止する。特に今回、人数のことについてご命令があった以上は、定められた通りに必ず人数を召し連れること。もし若干余分な人数があったとしても、差し出してはならない。もっとも、不相応な場所については命じることはないであろう。万一、人数が必要な時は、もちろん領内から人数を召し寄せ、軍役の定めの通り堅く勤めること。

・二十万石以上　馬上　十五騎より二十騎まで（ただし自身も含む）

Item: In recent years, it has come to our attention that when official duties are assigned in Edo, hired persons are being added to the retinue of servants to fulfill said duties. Henceforth, this practice is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, now that orders have been issued regarding the number of attendants, the prescribed number must without fail be brought along. Even if there should be a slight surplus in the number of people available, they shall not be presented. That said, duties shall not be assigned in places that are unsuitable. In the event that attendants are urgently required, it goes without saying that people shall be summoned from within the domain, and military service obligations shall be strictly fulfilled as prescribed.

**Required numbers by domain size:**

- **200,000 koku and above:**
Mounted warriors: 15 to 20 horsemen (including oneself)
Foot soldiers (ashigaru): 120–130 men
Porters and attendants (chūgen/ninsoku): 250 to 300 men

- **100,000 koku:**
Mounted warriors: 10 horsemen
Foot soldiers: 80 men
Porters and attendants: 140–150 men

- **50,000 koku:**
Mounted warriors: 7 horsemen
Foot soldiers: 60 men
Porters and attendants: 100 men

- **10,000 koku:**
Mounted warriors: 3–4 horsemen
Foot soldiers: 20 men
Porters and attendants: 30 men

Item: For places where duties have until now been fulfilled with a smaller number of people, that arrangement shall remain as it is.

Item: For those with domain revenues below 200,000 koku whose holdings fall between the figures listed above, they shall understand and conduct themselves in accordance with the above prescribed standards on a proportional basis.
