▲○Religious affiliation registers (shūmon aratamechō) for shogunal territories and private domains throughout the provinces: Since around the Kanbun era, annual records have been collected by the magistrates of temples and shrines
One, For shogunal territories, local deputies (daikan) shall collect the records and submit them through the magistrates of accounts
One, For Edo townspeople, the town magistrates shall collect and submit them
One, For towns under distant magistrates, the magistrates of those locations shall submit them
One, Those with 10,000 koku or more, as well as officials and alternating attendants (kōtai yoriai), shall each submit them individually
One, For those under group supervision, local lords shall collect them and submit through their group supervisors
However, for stipend lands of retainers, Iga men, foot soldiers, etc., and other small stipends, population registers of their territories shall be thoroughly collected by group supervisors without omission and submitted later
One, For temple and shrine lands, temples and shrines shall collect them and submit as much as possible through local deputies, domain lords, or local lords
However, for those that various officials have previously submitted directly to the magistrates of temples and shrines, direct submission to the magistrates of temples and shrines is acceptable
With this understanding, as records are collected, create itemized lists of annual era names and number of volumes for each year, and submit them to Makino Etchū-no-kami as they are completed. The actual records shall also be submitted upon further instruction
These instructions shall be communicated without omission 12th month of Saru [Year of the Monkey]
