東海道は程ヶ谷（保土ヶ谷）を限りとして、神奈川宿では所々に崩れが多い。本牧・金沢・鎌倉・江の島・浦賀辺りまで（被害あり）。▲中山道は上州高崎を限りとして、この街道では地面から砂が湧き出て清水があふれる箇所が各所にある。蕨宿から大宮の間は障りが多い。▲甲州街道は八王子を限りとして、街道沿いに大方の被害はない。▲日光街道は宇都宮を限りとして、街道筋に崩れがある。また草加辺りも（被害あり）。▲水戸街道は土浦辺りを限りとして、街道沿いに崩れが所々に見られる。下総筋は逆井近辺の揺れが強く、行徳・船橋辺りも同様である。葛西領・二合半領では崩れが各所にある。また松戸・市川・柴又辺りも崩れが多いと聞く。その他、在郷・市中共に見積もったところ、高台の地は格別の被害はなく、低い土地は大方、損傷が強い方向に見受けられる。

九月二十九日、八代目団十郎の弟・猿蔵が、大坂若大夫座にて不破伝左衛門と関取濡髪の役を務め、興行中に死去した。法号：実誉義筵孝（九月二十九日）安信士【左側に「年二十一」とあり】

### Reports from Along the Highways and Nearby Provinces
Along the Tokaido highway, damage extends as far as Hodogaya, with many collapses reported throughout Kanagawa-juku. Damage is reported as far as Honmoku, Kanazawa, Kamakura, Enoshima, and Uraga. ▲ Along the Nakasendo highway, damage extends as far as Takasaki in Kozuke Province; along this road, sand welled up from the ground and spring water overflowed in numerous locations. Many disturbances occurred between Warabi-juku and Omiya. ▲ Along the Koshu Kaido highway, damage extends as far as Hachioji, with no significant incidents along most of the route. ▲ Along the Nikko Kaido highway, damage extends as far as Utsunomiya, with collapses reported along the route. The Soka area also suffered damage. ▲ Along the Mito Kaido highway, damage extends as far as Tsuchiura, with collapses visible at various points along the road. In the Shimosa area, the shaking was particularly strong near Sakai, and the areas around Gyotoku and Funabashi were similarly affected. ### Excerpts from a Letter from Osaka
On the night of the 28th day of the 9th month, an earthquake struck, causing major collapses along Hiranobashi, Hoko-cho, and Shijimibashi-suji in Osaka, with many people in the area suffering harm. In addition, parts of the castle towns of Owari (Nagoya) and Totomi Hamamatsu also suffered minor fires. It is reported that earthquakes occurred simultaneously in these locations.
On the 29th day of the 9th month, Sarukura, the younger brother of the eighth-generation Ichikawa Danjuro, was performing the roles of Fuwa Denzaemon and the wrestler Nuregami at the Osaka Wakadayu-za theater, and died during the performance. His posthumous Buddhist name: Jitsuyo Gisen Ko (29th day of the 9th month) Anshin-shi. [A note to the left reads: "aged 21."]
Among the actor residences that survived the fires in Edo's theater district:
Bando (Shiuka's son) Yoshiya, Nakamura Fukusuke, Ichimura Uzaemon, Morita Kanya, Onoe Kikujiro, and two or three teahouses also survived.
