現代語訳
手紙をもってご報告申し上げます。昨日お越しになられた際の口上書を、南部大膳殿へ昨晩持参し、取次を通じて申し入れました。
ところが、大膳殿が美濃守方へのご返事としてお伝えになったことには、「先方様からの書付を受け取りました。早々に在所へ申し遣わし、新規の塚を築き足すよう申し遣わします。しかしながら、百姓だけを双方から遣わして、もし現地で何かと論争になっては如何なものかと思いますので、軽侍（かるざむらい）を両人ほどお出しになるのが宜しいかと存じます。お国廻衆がお越しになる前に、後塚をも仕舞いになるよう申し付けます。南部領は遠方ですので、早々に申し遣わします。そちら様へ内々にお伝えする時期などについても、打ち合わせたい由」とのことでした。
以上の件を、包み隠さず念を入れてお伝え下さいましたので、その通りに申し遣わします。
美濃守殿よりご指示がありましたので、このようにご報告申し上げます。以上。

I humbly write to inform you of the following. The oral communication (kōjōgaki) you brought yesterday was delivered in person to Lord Nanbu Daizen last evening through an intermediary.
In response, Lord Daizen conveyed the following as his reply to Lord Minonokami: "I have received the written document from your party. I will promptly send word to the local area (zaisho) to have additional new burial mounds (tsuka) constructed. However, I am concerned that if only peasants (hyakushō) are dispatched from both sides and they come into dispute on the ground, it would be problematic. I therefore believe it would be advisable for you to send approximately two lower-ranking samurai (karuzamurai). I will instruct them to complete the rear mound (nochi-tsuka) before the inspection party (okuni-mawari-shū) arrives. As the Nanbu domain is quite distant, I will send word promptly. I would also like to arrange a time to privately communicate the details to your side."
As Lord Daizen has communicated all of this to me frankly and without concealment, I relay it to you exactly as told.
As I have been instructed by Lord Minonokami to do so, I present this report accordingly.
