## Pilgrimage Songs (continued) **Twenty-fifth Temple: Kiyomizu-dera, Harima Province** What compassion— spreading to all who pass through its gates, of every kind and station— what more need the waves wash here to make it Kiyomizu, Pure Water? **Twenty-sixth Temple: Hokke-ji, same (Harima)** In spring the blossoms, in summer the orange flowers come scattering down— the flowers of the Dharma on this mountain never cease to bloom in any season. **Twenty-seventh Temple: Shoshazan (Enkyō-ji), same (Harima)** Coming from so far away, as the plain clears, the mountain wind of Shōsha blows down from above— even the sound of the pines must be the sound of the Buddha's teaching. **Twenty-eighth Temple: Nariai-ji, Tango Province** The sound of the waves, the echoing of the pines—this is Nariai, where the wind blows across the Bridge of Heaven, Amanohashidate. **Twenty-ninth Temple: Matsuno'o-dera, Tango Province** How many nights of old must have passed here in waiting— even a thousand years hence, here at Matsuno'o-dera, one waits. **Thirtieth Temple: Chikubu-shima, Ōmi Province** Moon and sun floating between the waves—Chikubushima— it feels as though one loads a boat full of treasure. **Thirty-first Temple: Chōmei-ji, same (Ōmi)** Like the eight-thousand-year-old willow, blessed with long life, each step I take on this pilgrimage is like a garland upon my head. **Thirty-second Temple: Kannon-ji, same (Ōmi)** Oh, how sacred— please guide me, Kannon-ji, these steps I carry from so distant a land.
