月本国風土
此国の風土（ふうど）いにしえより諸書（しよしよ）にあらはし
たれば。今こと新らしくいふに及ばずと
いへども。其あらましをいはゞ男をいやしめ
女を尊ひ。昼をむだにして夜を用ひ。男の
両婦にまみゆるを禁（きん）し。女は放（ほしいまゝ）に男に
あひ。婚姻（こんいん）の盃（さかづき）は男より初め。座 席（せき）は皆
女を上￣ミ とす。これ陰国（いんこく）のいさをしかして。

日を茶にし月を翫（もてあそ）ぶのしるし。月本の
本￣ン意なるべし。十五十三の二夜の月見を以
当国第一の重き日とするも。国の名に

夕上王といふ。後の人 誤（あやま）りて今は名主さまと
いえり。これ草書にて夕上【「上」の草書体】王と書しを

There is one lord for every five provinces. Expressing the virtue of the full moon, he is called the Evening-Upper King. Later people mistakenly now call him "Nanushi-sama" (village headman).
