【久米塔講経の事】
かくて大師（だいし）大和（やまとの）国（くに）久米寺（くめじ）にくたり給ひて。善（ぜん）
無畏（むい）所説（しよせつ）の疏（しよ）に付て。大 日（にち）経（きやう）を講（かう）し給ひけ
る。これ御 夢（ゆめ）のつげにより彼（かの）寺の東塔（とうたふ）のもとに
して。はじめて此 経（きやう）を得たまひしゆへに。地の
恩（おん）を報（ほう）じ給ふべきよしにや侍りけん。そのとき
伊勢（いせ）大（だい）神宮（じんぐう）をはじめたてまつり。日本国の大
小の神祇（じんぎ）。本地（ほんぢ）垂迹（すいしやく）の御かたちをあらはした
まひて。御ちやうもん。随喜（ずいき）し給ひけるとかや。
しかれは大師の御（み）修法（しほ）真言（しんごん）の秘奥（ひわう）神明（しんめい）すで
に納受（なうじゆ）をたれ給ふ。人倫（じんりん）としてたれかあふぎ信（しん）

【久米の塔講経のこと】
こうして大師は大和国の久米寺にお降りになり、善無畏が説いた疏（注釈書）に基づいて、『大日経』を講じられた。これはある夢のお告げによって、かの寺の東塔のもとで初めてこの経を得られたゆえに、その地の恩に報いるべきとのお心からであったのであろう。そのとき、伊勢大神宮をはじめとして、日本国の大小の神祇が、本地垂迹のお姿をあらわされ、御聴聞・随喜なさったということである。
このように大師の御修法・真言の奥義は、神明がすでに納受くださっている。人として誰が仰ぎ信じ

【The Lecture on Sūtras at the Kume Pagoda】
Thus, the Daishi descended to Kumedera Temple in Yamato Province and delivered a lecture on the *Mahāvairocana Sūtra* (*Dainichi-kyō*), based on the commentary expounded by Śubhākarasiṃha. This was likely done out of a wish to repay the grace of that place, for it was at the base of the Eastern Pagoda of that very temple—as revealed through a prophetic dream—that he had first obtained this sūtra. At that time, beginning with the Great Shrine of Ise, the major and minor deities of Japan manifested their forms as the "original ground and its traces" (*honji suijaku*), and it is said that they listened to and rejoiced in the teachings.
Thus, the secret depths of the Daishi's ritual practices and esoteric mantras had already been received and accepted by the divine spirits. As a human being, who could fail to look up to him in reverence and faith—
