【求聞持御持念 并 天より剱くたる事】
其後 阿波（あは）の大 竜（りう）寺（じ）と云山寺にこもりゐ。虚空（こくう）
蔵（ざう）の法（ほう）をしゆし給ふに。たちまち悉地（しつち）の相（さう）あ
らはれて。天より大（おほき）なる剣（けん）とび来りて。御 持念（ぢねん）ま
します。瑜伽（ゆが）の壇（だん）の上にたちけり。此 剣（けん）いま
にをいて。かの寺にこもりてあると也。空海（くうかい）種々（しゅ〴〵）
のきどくをあらはし給ふことはよく此法をしゆ
しえ給ふゆへ也。いま時の人もよく此 法（ほう）をしゆし
けれは。あらたなるしるしともおほくあらはるゝ事
ありとかや。ひとへに空海のしゆしをき給ふ。
御 行法（ぎやうほう）をうけつぐゆへなり。まことにありがたき
事共也

現代語訳
【求聞持法の修行と天から剣が下った出来事】
その後、阿波の大竜寺という山寺に籠もっていた。虚空蔵菩薩の修法を行っていると、たちまち成就の兆しが現れて、天から大きな剣が飛んで来て、修行をしている瑜伽の壇の上に立った。この剣は今でもその寺に籠もってあるという。空海がさまざまな霊験を現すことができるのは、よくこの法を修めたからである。今の時代の人でも、よくこの法を修行すれば、新たなしるしも多く現れることがあるという。ひとえに空海が修行し確立した修行法を受け継いでいるからである。まことにありがたいことである。

【The Practice of Gumonjihō and the Descent of a Sword from Heaven】
Afterwards, he secluded himself at a mountain temple called Dairyūji in Awa Province. While practicing the Ākāśagarbha meditation, suddenly signs of spiritual achievement appeared, and a great sword flew down from heaven and stood upon the yoga altar where he was performing his devotional practice. This sword is said to remain enshrined at that temple even today. The reason Kūkai was able to manifest various miraculous signs was because he had thoroughly mastered this practice. It is said that even people of the present day, if they practice this method well, can experience many new miraculous signs. This is entirely because they inherit the practice methods that Kūkai established through his training. These are truly blessed occurrences.
