【室戸崎御閑居 并 語詠歌の事 付 悪龍法を妨事】
さてごしゆぎやう成就（じやうじゆ）しければ。又 権操（ごんさう）和（くは）
尚（しやう）御さづけありし。御 秘法（ひほう）虚空（こくう）蔵（ざう）求聞（くもん）
持（ぢ）の法（ほう）を。御しゆぎやうあるべしとおほし
めしけるが。うき世のちりもみだりかはしから
ぬ地をもとめんとて。こゝかしこと行脚した
まへども御こゝろのとまる地もなかりけるが。
土佐（とさ）の国（くに）。室戸（むろとか）崎（さき）といふところにつき給へ
ば。きやうちすぐれたる地ありけり。南海（なんかい）はる
かにみわたせば。渺々（べう〳〵）として。山も見えず。青（せい）
巌（がん）かたはらにそはたち。松をはらふ。みねのあら
しは煩悩（ぼんなう）のゆめをや。けり。岩（いは）にくだくる
いそのなみは妄心（まうしん）の垢（あか）をあらひ。村（そん）煙（えん）とを
くへだゝり。雲水（うんすい）悠々（ゆう〳〵）として。まことに。三千
世界（せかい）もまのまへにつきぬべし。御こゝろのまゝ
なりし境地（きやうち）なりければ。よろこひ給ひて。
こゝぞよきすみかとおぼしめし。わつかな
る。しばのいほりをむすびたまひて。空（くう）閑寂（かんじやく）
浄（じやう）は。如来（によらい）の御をしへにかなひ。霊木（れいぼく）霊水（れいすい）は。
相応（さうをう）の地（ち）行（ぎやう）なりとたのしみ。たゞ一人こゝろ
をすまして。いほりに座（ざ）し給ふに。いそのなみ
はまちどり。みねのあらしたにのこたへ。いと
ものあはれなりければ。此国のならはしなり

【室戸崎での隠居と歌詠みについて、付録：悪龍が修法を妨害した事】
さて修行が成就したので、また権操和尚からお授けいただいた秘法である虚空蔵求聞持法を修行しようとお考えになった。俗世の塵も交わりも乱さない土地を求めようと思い、あちらこちらと行脚なさったけれども、心の留まる地もなかった。しかし土佐国の室戸崎という所に着かれると、景致の優れた土地があった。南海をはるかに見渡すと、広々として山も見えず、青い岩壁がそば立ち、松を払う峰の嵐は煩悩の夢を覚ますかのようであった。岩に砕ける磯の波は妄心の垢を洗い、村の煙とは遠く隔たり、雲や水は悠々として、まことに三千世界もまのあたりに尽くすことができそうな、心のままの境地であったので、喜ばれて、こここそよい住処だとお思いになった。わずかばかりの柴の庵を結ばれて、空寂で静寂清浄なのは如来の教えに叶い、霊木霊水は修行に相応しい地であると楽しみ、ただ一人心を澄まして庵に座していらっしゃると、磯の波と浜千鳥、峰の嵐と谷の木霊が、とても趣深く感じられたので、この国の習わしなのか

【Seclusion at Cape Muroto and the Composition of Poetry, with an Appendix: The Evil Dragon's Interference with the Practice】
Having achieved success in his training, he again intended to practice the secret method of the Ākāśagarbha Gumonjihō that had been transmitted to him by the monk Gonsō. Seeking a place where neither the dust of the floating world nor worldly associations would disturb him, he wandered here and there on pilgrimage, but found no place where his heart could settle. However, when he arrived at a place called Cape Muroto in Tosa Province, he found a location of exceptional scenic beauty. Looking far out over the southern sea, it stretched endlessly with no mountains visible; blue rock cliffs rose up alongside, and the mountain storms that swept through the pines seemed to awaken one from the dreams of worldly desires. The shore waves crashing against the rocks washed away the defilements of deluded mind, and being far removed from village smoke, with clouds and water flowing serenely, it truly seemed a realm where one could encompass the entire three-thousand-fold world before one's very eyes.
