現代語訳
道中の見物客は、貴賤男女が街にあふれ、市場を成すようであった。まことに美しい衣装が天に翻り、錦の刺繍が地を照らす有様は、空海を尊び申し上げるためである。貞元二十年十二月二十三日に都に入られた。そのときの天子は徳宗皇帝と申された。宣陽坊の旧宅にお入れ申し上げて、恐れ敬い申し上げた。

The spectators along the route - nobles and commoners, men and women alike - filled the streets as if forming a marketplace. Truly, the splendid garments fluttered in the heavens and brocaded embroideries illuminated the earth, all because they revered and honored Kukai. On the twenty-third day of the twelfth month of Teigen 20, he entered the capital. The emperor at that time was called Emperor Dezong. He was received into his former residence in Senyo-bo district, where he was fearfully and respectfully honored.
