根（ね）のみこと。手力雄命（たちからをのみこと）いは戸をとつて虚空（おほそら）
になげすて給へは。日月天にかゝやきけると
也。その一神あまつみことの御すゑ。豊嶋（とよしま）と
申たてまつるは。さゑきのとをつ祖神（おやのかみ）なり。
その御すゑ朝敵（てうてき）を退治（たいぢ）し給へば。みかと御
感（かん）のあまりに。地をわかちてさぬきの国をつ
かわされしより。御 子孫（しそん）代々あひつたへて今 空（くう）
海（かい）の御 父（ちゝ）まてかはる事なく。讃州（さんしう）を領（りやう）し

御心にかなはせたまはずといふ事なし。しかはあ
れど四十（よそぢ）の春秋をむかへ給へども。御子一人も
ましまさず。夫婦これをいとさう〳〵しき物にな
げき。つねに神ほとけにいのり申させ給ひける。
ある夜（よ）ふうふの御 夢（ゆめ）に。天よりたつときひし
りあまくだり。御ふところへとび入給ふとおぼし
めしてより。夢はやかて覚（さめ）にけり。ふうふ又の日
ゆめ合し給ふにも。其ゆめいさゝかたがふ所なかり
ければ。いかさま年（とし）ころの望（のぞみ）もやかなふらんと。
すゑたのもしく思しめしけり

根命、手力雄命が岩戸を取って大空に投げ捨て給うと、日月が天に輝いたということです。その一神である天津命の御末裔で、豊嶋と申し上げる方は、佐伯氏の遠祖神でございます。その御末裔が朝敵を退治し給うと、帝の御感激のあまりに、地を分けて讃岐国を賜ったことより、御子孫代々相い伝えて今の空海の御父まで変わることなく、讃州を領し給うのでございます。かくて夫婦はめでたく栄えなさって、内には神明仏陀を敬い、外には国民を慈しみ給うので、国家は豊かに治まり、何事も

【大師御誕生の事】
御心に叶わせ給わぬということはありませんでした。しかしながら四十歳の春秋を迎え給うても、御子一人もいらっしゃいません。夫婦はこれをたいそう悲しいことに嘆き、常に神仏に祈り申し上げなさっていました。ある夜、夫婦の御夢に、天より尊い飛行仙人が天下り、御懐へと飛び入り給うと思し召してより、夢はやがて覚めました。夫婦が翌日夢合わせをし給うにも、その夢は少しも違うところがありませんでしたので、きっと年来の望みも叶うであろうと、末頼もしく思し召されました。

did not accord with their wishes. However, even though they had reached their fortieth year, they had not a single child. The couple lamented this as a most sorrowful matter and constantly prayed to the gods and Buddha. One night, both husband and wife dreamed that a venerable flying sage descended from heaven and flew into her bosom. The dream soon ended upon awakening. When the couple compared their dreams the next day, there was not the slightest difference between them, so they thought with great hope that perhaps their long-cherished wish would finally be fulfilled.
