【上段】
公方様への御目見の覚書

一、延宝二年（1674年）寅の正月二十七日、稲葉美濃守様から嶋田出雲守殿へお達しがあり、その出雲守殿より殿様（梁川伊達家当主）へ手紙をもって、伊達安芸・小梁川修理が翌朝、公方様（将軍）へお目見えするよう仰せ付けられた旨、連絡がありました。

一、同二十八日、卯の刻の上（午前六時頃）に、安芸殿と同道し、小脇差・熨斗目・長袴を着用して、当時の聞番である三好助左衛門の案内で登城しました。殿様も通常のご出仕よりも少し早く御登城なさり、殿様は隠岐守様のご引き合わせにより、お目見えのお座敷を拝見いたしました。
公方様へ差し上げた品は、御小袖一重と銀（馬代として）でした。巳の刻下（午前十時頃）にお目見えが行われました。御目見えのお取り次ぎをされた方は本多長門守殿でした。
お目見えが済んだ後、殿様も両人のお目見えに対して仰せ付けられたお礼を申し上げ、直ちに御老中・若御老中へのご挨拶回りをなさいました。修理も御城から直ちに、御老中の河内守様、若御老中の伊達遠江守様、嶋田出雲守殿、大井新右衛門殿、品川様、高木忠右衛門殿のもとへ罷り出て、直ちにお屋敷へ帰り、殿様へもお礼を申し上げました。
右の御老中様方、雅楽頭様・美濃守様・大和守様・但馬様・播磨様より、殿様へ御返礼のお使者がお見えになりました。

【下段】
美濃守様・大和守様・但馬様・播磨様より、修理へも御祝辞をいただきました。河内守様・能登守様よりはお手紙にてお祝いの言葉を賜りました。

**Record of Audience with the Shogun (Kubō-sama)**

**[Upper Section]**

Item: On the 27th day of the first month of Enpō 2 (1674), the Year of the Tiger, an order was issued from Lord Inaba Mino-no-kami to Shimada Izumo-no-kami, who in turn sent a letter to the lord (head of the Yanagawa Date family), informing him that Date Aki and Koyanagawa Shuri were commanded to have an audience with the Shogun the following morning.

Item: On the 28th, at the upper part of the Hour of the Rabbit (approximately 6:00 AM), accompanied by Lord Aki, and dressed in a small short sword (kodachi), noshime (a formal patterned robe), and long formal hakama, they proceeded to the castle guided by Miyoshi Sukuzaemon, who was then serving as kikiban (duty officer). The lord also arrived at the castle slightly earlier than his usual attendance. Through the introduction of Lord Oki-no-kami, the formal audience chamber was entered.

The gifts presented to the Shogun consisted of one set of kosode (formal robes) and silver (in lieu of a horse). The audience took place at the lower part of the Hour of the Snake (approximately 10:00 AM). The official who announced the audience was Lord Honda Nagato-no-kami.

After the audience concluded, the lord expressed his gratitude on behalf of both persons for being granted the audience, and then immediately made courtesy calls to the Senior Councillors (Rōjū) and the Junior Councillors (Wakadoshiyori). Shuri also proceeded directly from the castle to call upon Senior Councillor Kawachi-no-kami, Junior Councillor Date Tōtōmi-no-kami, Shimada Izumo-no-kami, Ōi Shinuemon, Lord Shinagawa, and Takagi Chūuemon, before returning directly to the residence and presenting his respects to the lord.

In return, messengers were sent from the Senior Councillors — Lord Utagashira, Lord Mino-no-kami, Lord Yamato-no-kami, Lord Tajima, and Lord Harima — bearing congratulatory replies to the lord.

**[Lower Section]**

From Lord Mino-no-kami, Lord Yamato-no-kami, Lord Tajima, and Lord Harima, congratulatory acknowledgments were also extended directly to Shuri. From Lord Kawachi-no-kami and Lord Noto-no-kami, written letters of congratulation were received.
