一同七未三月十二日当春年始ニ下坂市左衛門忰市之丞相願初而之御礼申上候処下坂市左衛門嶋田助右衛門若林庄五郎次ニ而御礼申上候様被
仰付候ニ付高瀬藤蔵宮川加右衛門播磨勘兵衛口上書を以相願候ハ先年嶋田助右衛門忰彦八則当助右衛門初而御礼申上候節ハ藤
蔵次ニ而御礼申上候近例有之候間市之丞儀忰之儀ニも御在候間此後勘兵衛次席ニ被仰付被下候様ニと相願右之趣御用人牧野
主膳へ相達候処左之通書付を以申聞候ニ付其段申渡候

三人之者共忰御目見被仰付候者共ニ付市之丞儀庄五郎次へ差出候尤其余之者共ハ御目付支配ニ而も忰御目見与
申儀ハ無之ニ付旁御吟味之上以後三人之者共忰御目見被仰付候節ハ三人之次席へ差出筈相極 未正月

一同八申十二月廿八日来年始御鍛冶共御礼之儀是迄下坂市左衛門忰市之丞儀若林庄五郎次席ニ而御礼申上候得共向後ハ勤之者
次席ニ而御礼申上候様被仰出候且又是迄拙者共支配と町支配と御礼申上候節相分り不申候ニ付段々相達候所来年始御礼
ゟハ拙者共支配之者御礼申上相済畢而町支配と相極り候ニ付其段御鍛冶共へ三郎兵衛於宅申渡之
但若林庄五郎忰来年始御礼申上候旨ニ付下坂市左衛門忰市之丞次席ニ而御礼申上候様申渡之
一元文五申五月十六日嶋田九八郎忰善九郎受領願出同廿五日拝借銀相願候処弐貫匁御貸被成六月廿日増拝借願差出同廿五日六百
匁又々御貸被成候翌酉三月又々増拝借願候へ共不叶依之御目付拝借いたし貸遣同十三日刀を為指遣度願候得共不叶
同十五日再願ニ而上京ニ付刀御免罷帰候節ハ刀相止可申旨」三月廿三日京都之様子留有之五月四日首尾能相仕廻罷帰

先日、御門所で高足（高い下駄）を履いて通行していた件について報告があったため、吟味の上、先例の通り申し渡したところ、納得しない旨で再三不敬な願書を提出するという不調法な振る舞いがあった。よって押込処分とするので、慎んで控えているように。以上 十二月二十三日
右の件につき、御座所御門・太鼓御門の番所へ、右の五人とも今後は裏付下駄で通行するよう口上使を通じて申し伝えた。
一、同七年（安永七年）未年三月十二日、当春の年始に下坂市左衛門の息子市之丞が願い出て初めて御礼を申し上げたところ、下坂市左衛門・嶋田助右衛門・若林庄五郎の次席で御礼を申し上げるよう仰せ付けられたため、高瀬藤蔵・宮川加右衛門・播磨勘兵衛が口上書を以て願い出た。先年、嶋田助右衛門の息子彦八（現在の助右衛門）が初めて御礼を申し上げた際は藤蔵の次席であった前例があるので、市之丞も息子の身分であるから、今後勘兵衛の次席に仰せ付けていただきたいと願い出た。この旨を御用人牧野主膳へ伝えたところ、左の通り書付で申し聞かされたため、その旨申し渡した。
「下坂市左衛門の息子市之丞について、先例により願い出て年始御礼を仰せ付けられた。右の市之丞の席次については、御目付支配の御職人のうち、下坂・嶋田・若林三人の息子で御目見を仰せ付けられた者についてのことなので、市之丞は庄五郎の次席とする。もっとも、その他の者については御目付支配でも息子の御目見ということはないため、合わせて御吟味の上、以後三人の息子が御目見を仰せ付けられる際は三人の次席に出すことと決定 未年正月」
しかし、
一、同八年申年十二月二十八日、来年始の御鍛冶の御礼について、これまで下坂市左衛門の息子市之丞は若林庄五郎の次席で御礼を申し上げていたが、今後は勤めている者の次席で御礼を申し上げるよう仰せ出された。また、これまで私共の支配と町支配の御礼を申し上げる際の区別がつかなかったため、段々と申し達したところ、来年始の御礼からは私共支配の者が御礼を申し上げ終わった後、町支配と決まったため、その旨を御鍛冶に三郎兵衛宅で申し渡した。
ただし、若林庄五郎の息子が来年始に御礼を申し上げる旨なので、下坂市左衛門の息子市之丞は次席で御礼を申し上げるよう申し渡した。
一、元文五年申年五月十六日、嶋田九八郎の息子善九郎が受領を願い出て、同二十五日に拝借銀を願い出たところ二貫匁を御貸しになり、六月二十日に増額拝借を願い出て同二十五日に六百匁をまた御貸しになった。翌酉年三月にまた増額拝借を願ったが叶わず、そのため御目付が拝借して貸し遣わした。同十三日に刀を差したいと願ったが叶わず、同十五日の再願で上京のため刀を御免され、帰った際には刀を止めるべき旨。三月二十三日京都の様子の記録あり。五月四日に首尾よく仕事を終えて帰った段々の記録あり。ただし九八郎は前年の冬か改めて新右衛門、善九郎は新兵衛と改めた。酉年十月に拝借銀上納方を願い出て、十一月五日に御指図、また再願したことの記録がある。
一、寛保二年戌年五月二十四日、嶋田新右衛門拝領屋敷の川方の塀が大破したため、前例の通り御修復の願いの口上書を差し出した。
一、文化十一年戌年二月十一日、金具師宮川佐次兵衛の弟又五郎という者に不埒な行為があったところ、同居していながら不注意で不届きであるため、以後御目付支配から除き、並御職人を仰せ付けて町奉行支配を仰せ付け、これまでの通り押込処分とした。しかし文政元年寅年十二月八日の願いにより、以前の通り御目付支配を仰せ付けた。
一、同年十二月五日、台師高瀬林右衛門に御目付支配中の帯刀を御免になった。
一、文政六年未年十二月十一日、金具師宮川又五郎に願いの通り帯刀を御免になった。

Regarding the recent report about these individuals passing through the gate area wearing takageta (high wooden clogs), after investigation we issued instructions according to precedent. However, they showed disrespectful behavior by repeatedly submitting insolent petition documents expressing their dissatisfaction. Therefore, they are placed under house arrest and must remain in confinement. December 23rd
Regarding this matter, we sent word through an oral messenger to the guard posts at Goza-sho Gate and Taiko Gate that all five individuals must pass through wearing urazuke-geta (clogs with leather soles) from now on.
1. On March 12th of the 7th year (An'ei 7), during the New Year greetings this spring, Shimosaka Ichizaemon's son Ichinosuke petitioned to pay his first formal respects and was ordered to do so in the position after Shimosaka Ichizaemon, Shimada Sukeemon, and Wakabayashi Shogoro. Therefore, Takase Tozo, Miyakawa Kaemon, and Harima Kanbei submitted a petition stating that when Shimada Sukeemon's son Hikohachi (the current Sukeemon) first paid his respects years ago, he was seated after Tozo according to precedent. Since Ichinosuke is also a son, they requested he be placed after Kanbei in the future. When this was conveyed to Chief Retainer Makino Shuzen, he responded with the following written instruction, which was then communicated:
"Regarding Shimosaka Ichizaemon's son Ichinosuke, New Year greetings have been authorized according to precedent. Concerning Ichinosuke's seating arrangement, among the御目付-supervised craftsmen, the sons of the three individuals Shimosaka, Shimada, and Wakabayashi who have been granted audience rights, Ichinosuke shall be placed after Shogoro. However, since other 御目付-supervised individuals do not have sons granted audience rights, after deliberation, it is decided that when sons of these three are granted audience rights in the future, they shall be placed after the three principals. 1st month of the Sheep year"
However:
1. On December 28th of the 8th year (Monkey year), regarding next year's New Year greetings by the smiths: while Shimosaka Ichizaemon's son Ichinosuke had previously offered greetings in the position after Wakabayashi Shogoro, it was announced that henceforth he should offer greetings in the position after those currently serving. Also, since the distinction between our supervision and town supervision during greetings had been unclear, after repeated communications, it was decided that from next year's New Year greetings, those under our supervision would complete their greetings first, followed by those under town supervision. This was communicated to the smiths at Saburobe's residence.
Note: Since Wakabayashi Shogoro's son will offer New Year greetings next year, it was communicated that Shimosaka Ichizaemon's son Ichinosuke should offer greetings in the next position.
1. On May 16th of Genbun 5 (Monkey year), Shimada Kuhachiro's son Zenkuro petitioned for court rank, and on the 25th petitioned for borrowed silver, receiving 2 kan mon. On June 20th he petitioned for additional borrowing and on the 25th received another 600 mon. In March of the following Rooster year he again petitioned for increased borrowing but was denied, so the 御目付 made a personal loan. On the 13th he petitioned to wear a sword but was denied. On the 15th, through a second petition, he was granted sword-wearing permission for his trip to Kyoto, with the condition that he stop wearing it upon return. Records from March 23rd show details of the Kyoto situation. Records from May 4th show he completed his business successfully and returned. Note: Kuhachiro changed his name to Shinemon the previous winter, and Zenkuro changed to Shinbei. Records show that in October of the Rooster year he petitioned regarding repayment of borrowed silver, received instructions on November 5th, and petitioned again.
1. On May 24th of Kanpo 2 (Dog year), Shimada Shinemon submitted a petition for repair of the severely damaged riverside fence of his granted residence, according to precedent.
1. On February 11th of Bunka 11 (Dog year), the metalworker Miyakawa Sajibei's younger brother Matagoro committed improper acts. Since Sajibei was living with him and showed negligence, which was inexcusable, Matagoro was removed from 御目付 supervision, assigned as a regular craftsman under town magistrate supervision, and placed under house arrest as before. However, following his petition on December 8th of Bunsei 1 (Tiger year), he was restored to 御目付 supervision as before.
1. On December 5th of the same year, the gun-stand maker Takase Rinemon was granted permission to wear a sword while under 御目付 supervision.
1. On December 11th of Bunsei 6 (Sheep year), the metalworker Miyakawa Matagoro was granted sword-wearing permission as petitioned.
