坂円右衛門繰上指越円右衛門跡へ御奉行太田三郎兵衛組山形茂右衛門与申者御抜シ被下候様申達有
之節順之通御勝手次第御申付可被成旨三郎兵衛へ申達候留有之
一同年五月十一日金津奉行渥美新右衛門ゟ細呂木御関所番人伊藤栄左衛門与申者令病死候右跡へ拙者組
高橋甚右衛門与申者御関所番人へ申付候旨尤此方ニ而取扱無之右之通断有之迄ニ候事
一文化二丑年二月十六日御奉行月番今立助右衛門申聞候ハ三国御米蔵番人山形茂右衛門致病死候右跡
抜順之者ハ河合太郎大夫組小頭林佐五右衛門と申者ニ候旨依之右前条之当りを以翌十七日勝手次
第奉行組小頭へ内々問合候処左之通書付認相廻し候写

一口留番人令病死候時ハ御城代ゟ其旨申達有之候得ハ猶又組分役へ申付抜順之者遂吟味何某組
何と申者抜順ニ付此者御抜シ可被下哉と伺書物書へ為認其儘御家老中へ相伺其通取扱候様被申
聞候得ハ其者組役人差添月番宅へ召呼譬ヘハ二ツ屋御番所へ御抜被下御充行並之通被下置
候旨申渡即刻組之者指添御城代方へ引渡候事
但二ツ屋三人之内内壱人ハ御奉行組是も取扱右之通也ケ様之時ハ為心得御奉行へ申達之
一山竹田口留番所明有之節金津組望無之時ハ諸組之内ゟ御抜シ被下候事其節御城代ヘハ拘り
合無之引渡之節ハ金津奉行へ書状を以申達候事

現代語訳
一、御奉行・金津奉行組の者の御抜擢の件
一、寛政十一年（未年）十二月十一日、三国御材木蔵番人寺尾文右衛門が病死した。その後任として同所御米蔵番人野坂円右衛門を繰り上げ、円右衛門の後任へは御奉行太田三郎兵衛組の山形茂右衛門という者を抜擢してもらいたいという申し出があった際、順序通り都合次第でお取り計らい可能である旨を三郎兵衛へ伝えた記録がある。
一、同年五月十一日、金津奉行渥美新右衛門より、細呂木御関所番人伊藤栄左衛門という者が病死した。その後任へは私の組の高橋甚右衛門という者を御関所番人に任命したとの報告。ただし、こちらでは取り扱わず、右の通り決定したまでのことである。
一、文化二年（丑年）二月十六日、御奉行月番今立助右衛門が申し聞かせるには、三国御米蔵番人山形茂右衛門が病死した。その後任の抜擢順位の者は河合太郎大夫組小頭林佐五右衛門という者であるとのこと。これにより前例に従い翌十七日、都合次第で奉行組小頭へ内々に問い合わせたところ、左の通り書付を作成して回覧した写し：
一、天明七年（未年）十月御抜擢 千本七右衛門組大橋文右衛門
一、寛政三年（亥年）五月御抜擢 立岩平右衛門組寺尾文右衛門
一、同七年（卯年）三月御抜擢 織田半左衛門組野坂円右衛門

一、口留番人が病死した時は、御城代よりその旨申し達しがあれば、さらに組分役へ申し付け、抜擢順位の者を吟味し、「何某組の何と申す者が抜擢順位につき、この者を御抜擢いただけるか」という伺い書を物書へ認めさせ、そのまま御家老中へ伺い、その通り取り扱うよう申し聞かせられれば、その者の組役人を差し添え月番宅へ召し呼び、例えば「二ツ屋御番所へ御抜擢下され、御充行は従来通り下し置かれる」旨を申し渡し、即刻組の者を差し添えて御城代方へ引き渡すこと。
ただし二ツ屋三人のうち一人は御奉行組で、これも取り扱いは右の通りである。このような時は心得のため御奉行へ申し達すこと。
一、山竹田口留番所に欠員が生じた節、金津組で希望がない時は、諸組の中から御抜擢下されること。その節、御城代へは関わり合いなく、引き渡しの節は金津奉行へ書状をもって申し達すること。
一、文化元年（子年）六月、山竹田口留御番所の欠員の後任へ須崎三郎右衛門組山口九右衛門が御抜擢下された節の取り扱いは右の通りのこと。
一、同六年（巳年）二月二十九日、同所番人病死の後任へ金津組の抜擢所であるが、当時希望者がいない旨を荒川十右衛門が申し聞かせてきたため、同役村田十大夫組松浦十蔵という者が年来勤功があることにより御家老中へ申し達し、御抜擢下されたこと。
◦一、享保十四年（酉年）正月二十一日、去秋の御簡略により御職人となった御土蔵番両人のうち一人―吉田久大夫は今度板取口へ再び遣わされた記録がある。もう一人―安川野次右衛門は同十六年（亥年）四月二十七日、二ツ屋御番人の欠員の後任へ再び御抜擢下された。
一、享和三年（亥年）四月十七日 大谷浦番人 坂野円六
今年まで御奉公都合六十三年勤めたことにより、
今年限り御酒代銀十匁を下されて宜しいかと御家老中へ
伺った上で御奉行へ申し達し、受け取りは御城代与力を召し呼んで渡した。

今年まで都合六十一年勤めたことにより右同断。
◦一、寛政九年（巳年）四月二十五日、板取口番人田辺甚右衛門が題目石塔一件を発端として御扶持を召し放たれ、堤安右衛門組田辺善蔵の件（甚右衛門の息子につき）、こちらで押し込めを仰せ付けられ、追って右の御咎めを御免になり、その後再び抜擢所へ遣わされたが、程なく病死した。

1. Regarding the promotion (onuki) of members from the magistrate (gobugyo) and Kanazu magistrate groups
1. On the 11th day of the 12th month of Kansei 11 (1799, year of the sheep), Terao Bunemon, guard of the Mikuni timber warehouse, died of illness. Nosaka Enemon, guard of the rice warehouse at the same location, was promoted to succeed him. When there was a request to promote Yamagata Moemon from Magistrate Ota Sarobei's group to succeed Enemon, it was conveyed to Sarobei that this could be arranged as convenient, following proper order.
1. On the 11th day of the 5th month of the same year, Kanazu Magistrate Atsumi Shinemon reported that Ito Eizaemon, guard of the Hosorogi checkpoint, had died of illness. Takahashi Jinemon from my group was appointed as checkpoint guard to succeed him. However, this matter was not handled here but was decided as stated above.
1. On the 16th day of the 2nd month of Bunka 2 (1805, year of the ox), Monthly Magistrate Imadate Sukeemon reported that Yamagata Moemon, guard of the Mikuni rice warehouse, had died of illness. The person next in line for promotion was Hayashi Sagoemon, a squad leader from Kawai Tarodayu's group. Following precedent, on the following 17th day, informal inquiries were made to the magistrate group squad leaders as convenient, and the following written record was circulated:
1. Tenmei 7 (1787, year of the sheep), 10th month promotion: Ohashi Bunemon from Senbon Shichiemon's group
1. Kansei 3 (1791, year of the boar), 5th month promotion: Terao Bunemon from Tateiwa Heiemon's group
1. Same 7th year (1795, year of the rabbit), 3rd month promotion: Nosaka Enemon from Oda Hanzaemon's group

1. When a checkpoint guard dies of illness, if notification comes from the castle deputy (gojodai), the group division official is further instructed to examine those in line for promotion, and a petition stating "So-and-so from such-and-such group is next for promotion - may this person be promoted?" is written by a scribe and submitted directly to the senior councilors (gokaro). When instructed to proceed accordingly, the person's group official is brought along to the monthly duty residence and told, for example, "You are promoted to the Nitsuya checkpoint and will receive the same stipend as before." The person is immediately transferred to the castle deputy's office with a group member escort.
However, one of the three at Nitsuya is from a magistrate group, and the same procedures apply. In such cases, the magistrate is informed for reference.
1. When there is a vacancy at the Yamatakeda checkpoint, if there are no volunteers from the Kanazu group, someone is promoted from among the various groups. In such cases, the castle deputy is not involved, and notification is sent to the Kanazu magistrate by letter upon transfer.
1. In the 6th month of Bunka 1 (1804, year of the rat), when Yamaguchi Kuemon from Suzaki Sabuemon's group was promoted to fill a vacancy at the Yamatakeda checkpoint, the procedures were as stated above.
1. On the 29th day of the 2nd month of the same 6th year (1809, year of the snake), for the successor to a guard who died of illness at the same location, although it was the Kanazu group's turn for promotion, Arakawa Juemon reported there were no current volunteers, so Matsuura Juzo from colleague Murata Jidayu's group, who had many years of meritorious service, was reported to the senior councilors and promoted.
◦1. On the 21st day of the 1st month of Kyoho 14 (1729, year of the rooster), of the two warehouse guards who became craftsmen due to cost-cutting measures the previous autumn, one - Yoshida Hisadayu - was reassigned to Itatori checkpoint according to records. The other - Yasukawa Nojiemon - was re-promoted to fill a Nitsuya guard vacancy on the 27th day of the 4th month of the same 16th year (1731, year of the boar).
1. Kyowa 3 (1803, year of the boar), 4th month, 17th day Otaniura guard Sakano Enroku
Having served a total of sixty-three years of service through this year,
it was inquired to the senior councilors whether ten monme of sake money
should be granted for this year only, and after reporting to the magistrate,
a castle deputy assistant was summoned to make the presentation.
1. Bunka 1 (1804, year of the rat), 3rd month, 12th day Nitsuya checkpoint guard Otani Chuzaemon
Having served a total of sixty-one years through this year, same as above.
◦1. On the 25th day of the 4th month of Kansei 9 (1797, year of the snake), Tanabe Jinemon, guard at Itatori checkpoint, had his stipend revoked due to an incident involving a Nichiren sect stone monument. Tanabe Zenzo from Tsutsumi Yasuemon's group (being Jinemon's son) was ordered confined here, but later the punishment was pardoned and he was reassigned to a promotion post, though he died of illness shortly thereafter.
