現代語訳
ことであろうかと、人々は皆不思議に思ったのも、もっともなことである。この合戦が起こるべき前兆であった。そもそも古く、神功皇后が三韓を征伐なされた時に、天神地祇の力をお祈り申し上げると、八百万の神々が集まり、そのおかげで中の海の底に磯良と申す御神が、神楽の調べの感動に堪えかねて、神遊びの庭へと現れ出て、御命令を受けてお使いとして竜宮城の満干の両珠（満珠・干珠）をお召し寄せになり、たやすく三韓を征伐なされた。まして末世に至り、大国をたやすく征伐できたことは、諸神諸仏のご加護によるものであって、四角に輝く月は、薩摩・大隅・日向・琉球を抑えて四ヶ国であり、かくも勇ましき領主となられる前兆であると、後になってそう思い当たったと、ある人が語り申したのも、同じ理によるものである。

—that everyone marveled at, was entirely understandable. It was an omen foretelling that this great battle was to come. For in ancient times, when Empress Jingū subjugated the Three Korean Kingdoms, she prayed to the Heavenly Deities and Earthly Spirits, and the eight million deities assembled in answer. By their grace, the divine being called Isora, dwelling at the bottom of the inner sea, unable to contain his deep emotion at the sacred music (kagura), came forth onto the sacred ground of divine revelry. Summoned as a divine messenger, he was commanded to retrieve from the Dragon Palace the two tide jewels—the Flood Tide Jewel and the Ebb Tide Jewel—by means of which the Three Korean Kingdoms were effortlessly subjugated. How much more so, then, that in these latter days, the conquest of a great kingdom with such ease was achieved through the divine protection of all the gods and buddhas. The four-cornered radiant moon signified the four provinces of Satsuma, Ōsumi, Hyūga, and Ryūkyū, and it was a portent of becoming the lord of so valiant and mighty a domain. That this interpretation came to mind only afterward was related by a certain person, and it too accords with the same principle.
