(Continued from the previous page) "...they shall be suppressed [side note: "me" (completing the verb)]," and so all forces withdrew. Hideyoshi, being a man of quick action, cleared away the snow from the old castle at Tezutsu-yama, put it in order, and issued orders that the samurai of Wakasa Province should man it as a garrison force, so it is said.
Item: Lord Nobunaga's departure on campaign to suppress the ikki of Echizen Province took place in the first ten days of the third month of the second year of Tenshō [1574]. Toward the Nakakawauchi-guchi (Middle Kawauchi Pass), at the border between Ōmi and Echizen Provinces, went: Shibata Shūri no Suke, Takigawa Sakon-shōgen, Inaba Iyo no Kami, Ujike Sakyō no Suke, Iga Iga no Kami, Marugame Hyōgo no Kami, Ichihashi Kurōzaemon no Jō, Fuwa Kawachi no Kami, and others.
Toward the Tsuruga-guchi (Tsuruga Pass entrance) went: Hashiba Chikuzen no Kami [side note: "Tōkichirō; at this time referred to as Chikuzen"], Niwa Gorōzaemon no Jō,
