嚮に抜萃選粋類聚の三書世に行はれ今また
初心手引のため当流碁立并定石集を与えて
上梓す是を楷梯として各の三書に
よらは上達せんことすみやかならん 青黎閣発兌

一一日 書肆（ほんや）青黎閣の主人なる者来りて予に謂（いつ）て
曰く前（さき）に君か撰（せん）する所の抜萃（ばつすい）もしくは撰粋（せんすい）又
加（くはゝ）る事なしといへとも是は既（すで）に其高きに登（のぼ）れる
ものゝさらに一 歩（ほ）を進（すゝ）めんと欲（ほつす）るの工夫（くふう）を助（たすく）る所の
ものにあらすや因（よつ）て今又定石と石立とを編（あみ）て是を
梓（あづさ）にする時は初学のためのみにあらす思ふに前（せん）
後（ご）の編集（へんしう）に小 伎（き）といへとももとより治上（ちかみ）にさかんに
俗（ぞく）下に美（うるは）して人々其 楽（たのし）みを楽む処の気象（きしやう）
おのつから永く千 載（ざい）にあらはると云ものなるへし
またよからすや予 辞（じ）する事を得す遂（つい）に筆（ふで）を取

かつて『抜萃』『選粋』『類聚』の三書が世に広まり、今またた初心者の手引きのために、当流の碁立並びに定石集を著して出版する。これを足がかりとして、それぞれが前記の三書によれば、上達することは速やかであろう。 青黎閣発行
意図を述べる
ある日、書店青黎閣の主人なる者がやって来て、私に向かって言うことには、「以前に貴方が編纂された『抜萃』や『選粋』には、さらに加えることはないとはいえ、これらは既にその高みに登った者が、さらに一歩を進めようと欲する際の工夫を助けるためのものではないか。そこで今また定石と石立とを編集してこれを出版すれば、初学者のためだけでなく、思うに前後の編集において、些細な技芸といえども、もとより治世の上で盛んになり、民間で美しく栄えて、人々がその楽しみを楽しむところの気風が、おのずから永く千年の後まで現れると言うものであろう。また良いではないか」と。私は辞退することができず、ついに筆を取り編選するのである。遠くに行く者は必ず近くからするように、

Stating the Intent
One day, the proprietor of the bookstore Seirei-kaku came to me and said: "While there may be nothing further to add to the 'Bassui' and 'Sen'sui' that you previously compiled, are these not works that assist in the strategies of those who have already reached such heights and wish to advance yet another step? Therefore, if we now compile joseki and stone positions and publish them, it would benefit not only beginners but also, I believe, through the compilation of these works, even though they may be considered minor arts, they would naturally flourish in good governance and beautify common society, allowing people to enjoy their pleasures, and this spirit would naturally manifest for a thousand generations.
