《題：第廿八 あぶらはかりわける事》
▲とおけにあぶら壱斗有を七升の
ますと三升ますと二つありこれに
て一斗の油を五升つゝはかり分（わけ）よと云
先此三升のますにてとをけなる
あふらを七升□すへ三ばい入申候時
三升ますに二升のこるをさて七升
ますのあふしをば又どをけへあけ
て三升ますに弐升有を又七升の
ますへ入又三升ますて一はい入は五升づゝにわかるなり
現代語訳
下法に八十を三で乗じて二十四。一位ずつ退いて、商の次に七と置く。さて法において下法に商をすべて乗ずる。二×九＝一万八千、二×八＝千六百、二×七＝百四十、九×九＝八千百、八×九＝七百二十、七×九＝六十三、四×九＝三百六十、四×八＝三十二、四×七＝二十八分。再法で一十百と上がって商の七をもってすべて法に乗ずる。二×七＝一京四兆、七×九＝六兆三億、一×七＝七千、七×七＝四千九百、七×九＝五百六十。実でこれを除く。実に余り三百四十三。これは小角に引き払うのである。
第二十八 油をはかり分ける事
桶に油一斗があり、七升の升と三升の升の二つがある。これにて一斗の油を五升ずつはかり分けよという。
まずこの三升の升にて桶なる油を七升すべて三杯入れ申し候時、三升の升に二升残る。さて七升の升の油をば又桶へあけて、三升の升に二升あるを又七升の升へ入れ、又三升の升で一杯入れば五升ずつに分かれるのである。

Multiply 80 of the lower method by 3 to get 24. Retreat by one position and place 7 next to the quotient. Now using the method, multiply all quotients by the lower method. 2×9 = 18,000, 2×8 = 1,600, 2×7 = 140, 9×9 = 8,100, 8×9 = 720, 7×9 = 63, 4×9 = 360, 4×8 = 32, 4×7 = 28 parts. Using the second method, go up by units, tens, hundreds and multiply 7 of the quotient by all methods. 2×7 = 1 kyō 4 chō, 7×9 = 6 chō 3 oku, 1×7 = 7,000, 7×7 = 4,900, 7×9 = 560. Divide by the actual number. The remainder in the actual number is 343. This is to be subtracted and cleared in the small corner.
Chapter 28: Measuring and Dividing Oil
There is one to (about 18 liters) of oil in a bucket, and there are two measuring cups: one of seven shō and one of three shō. The question is how to measure and divide the one to of oil into portions of five shō each using these cups.
First, using the three-shō cup, when you fill it three times from the oil in the bucket (totaling seven shō), two shō will remain in the three-shō cup. Then pour the oil from the seven-shō cup back into the bucket, transfer the two shō from the three-shō cup to the seven-shō cup, and fill the three-shō cup once more. This way, you can divide the oil into portions of five shō each.
