【本文】
信州浅間山から七〜八里、東南の方角にある吾妻山（あかつま山）へ、浅間山から噴火が起こり、泥流・火石が吹き出した。（虫喰いで判読不能の箇所あり）吾妻山へも吹き出した。

軽井沢宿は残らず焼失した。沓掛・追分宿の状況については、いまだに通路が塞がれているため、どのようになったか分からない。
上州群馬郡、御代官・小牧村原田清左衛門様の管轄地にある、同郡の南牧村・川嶋村、この三か村が廃村（退転）となった。南牧村では家が七軒残ったが、三か村合わせて家数は約六百軒にも及ぶ、大きな被害であった。
この川（吾妻川）の代官・原田清左衛門様からの届書によると、七月六日・七日の間に、鳴り響きながら噴出したとのことである。

浅間山の麓から七里ほど下った辺りで、舟に一坪あたり砂が二斗五升ほど積もっていたとのことである。

【Text】
From Mount Asama in Shinano Province, approximately 7 to 8 ri (roughly 28–32 km) to the southeast, an eruption occurred from Mount Asama toward Mount Agatsuma (written as "Akatsuma-yama"), spewing mudflows and volcanic rocks. [Text damaged by worm-holes] Eruptions also reached Mount Agatsuma.

The Karuizawa post town was completely burned down. As for the post towns of Kutsukake and Oiwake, since the roads remain impassable even now, it is unknown what became of them.
In Kōzuke Province, Gunma District, under the jurisdiction of the magistrate (daikan) Harada Seizaemon of Komaki Village — the three villages of Minamimaki Village, Kawashima Village [and Komaki Village] in the same district were all abandoned (taiten). Seven houses remained in Minamimaki Village, but the total number of houses across the three villages amounted to approximately 600, representing an enormous disaster.
According to the report submitted by the magistrate of this river (the Agatsuma River), Harada Seizaemon, the eruptions occurred with thunderous roaring during the 6th and 7th days of the 7th month.

This map is a copy of a diagram attached to the inspection report submitted by a retainer of Lord Matsudaira Awaji-no-kami, who was dispatched on the 7th day of the 7th month to conduct an on-site inspection.

At a location approximately 7 ri (roughly 28 km) downstream from the base of Mount Asama, sand had accumulated on boats at a rate of approximately 2 to 5 shō (roughly 45 liters) per tsubo (approximately 3.3 square meters).
