○西洋（せうやう）の人は。天地の理に通曉（つうきやう）し究理（きうり）を本とし。
たゞ人才を磨（みが）き。国家に有益（うゑき）の事のみに心を尽（つく）
し。無益（むゑき）の細行（さいこう）【左ルビ：チイサキコト】に精心（せいしん）を労（ろう）せずとかや。さればに
や医術（いじゆつ）もいまだ見（み）も聞（きゝ）もせざる術を施（ほとこ）し。人目（ひとめ）
を驚（おどろか）す事おほし。其術は唐土（もろこし）諸医の説に勝（まさ）
