【安政二年十月二日夜亥刻の大地震における怪我人の見聞記録】
○酒井雅楽頭（さかい うたのかみ）
死亡者数は甚大で際限がない。十月二日夜の地震により、上屋敷から下屋敷へ逃げ延びた人々のうち、三、四十人が死亡した。
○増山河内守（ましやま かわちのかみ）
死亡者数が多い。
谷口玄順の伯母である勢山（せいざん）は即死。老女（奥方付き上級女中）を務めていた。玄順自身は外宅（屋敷外の住居）にいたところで死亡。在番場所は園村松町。こちらも家が倒壊し、老母と女子の両名が死亡した。
○阿部伊勢守殿（あべ いせのかみ）
死亡者数が特に多い。
無事に逃げ延びることができたのは大守（当主）ただ一人とのこと。奥方も死ぬほどの怪我を負った。
○内藤紀伊守殿（ないとう きいのかみ）
家が倒壊し、死人が多い。
紀伊守殿は寝巻き姿のままで登城し、城中の御門にて宿直（とのい）の御先手（おさきて）に事情を話して……（以下欠）

**Eyewitness Accounts of Injuries and Deaths from the Great Earthquake on the Night of the 2nd Day of the 10th Month of Ansei 2 (1855), at the Hour of the Boar**
○ Lord Sakai Uta-no-kami:
The number of deaths is immeasurable. On the night of the 2nd day of the 10th month, as people fled from the upper residence (kami-yashiki) to the lower residence (shimo-yashiki), some thirty to forty persons perished.
○ Lord Mashiyama Kawachi-no-kami:
Many deaths reported.
The aunt of Taniguchi Genjun, a woman named Seizan who served as a senior lady-in-waiting (rōjo), died instantly. Genjun himself was at his outside residence and also perished. The location on duty was Sonomura Matsumachi. Similarly, the house collapsed, and both the elderly mother and a female member of the household died.
○ Lord Abe Ise-no-kami:
The number of deaths is particularly high.
It is said that the only one able to escape unharmed was the lord (daishu) himself. Even the lady of the house sustained injuries so severe they were nearly fatal.
○ Lord Naitō Kii-no-kami:
The house collapsed, and many deaths occurred.
Lord Kii-no-kami proceeded to Edo Castle still dressed in his nightclothes, and at the castle gate, he spoke with the on-duty guards (o-sakite)... [text ends here]
