現代語訳
服紗小袖（ふくさこそで）に御役付きの麻上下（あさかみしも）を借用して、殿中へ出られたとのこと。国老の身分としては軽率に過ぎるとの評判もあったが、一方でそれがかえって良いという意見もあった。
一、林大学頭（はやしだいがくのかみ） — 屋敷は全壊、上下（かみしも）合わせて死者十五人
大学頭も桂の間（かつらのま）の寝室で建物に押しつぶされたが、怪我なくはい出したとのこと。奥方は死去。家中の者、下男・下女が死亡。塾長の何田八之助（なにがしたはちのすけ）の宅でも下女が死亡。

大守（たいしゅ）も潰れた家に敷き伏せられたが、それでも無事で翌日登城した。その後体調を崩した。
一、高井八十次郎（たかいやそじろう）
奥方は即死。下男・下女が多く死亡。八十次郎自身は怪我のみにとどまった。
一、松平肥後守（まつだいらひごのかみ） — 死者多数
死者を車に積んで引き出しているのを見た者がいると言い、和田倉（わだくら）の内屋敷・新銭座（しんせんざ）の屋敷などで凡そ六百人余りが死亡したとのこと。
一、森 伝右衛門（もり でんえもん）
主人は一旦逃げ出したが、金を取りに屋敷に戻り、ついに押しつぶされて死亡した。
一、関 播磨守（せき はりまのかみ） — 死者多数

組の同心三十人のうち、当主十二人が死亡したとのこと。与力（よりき）の天野丈右衛門（あまのじょうえもん）が死亡。家族まで含めると合計五十人余りが死亡した。

[He] borrowed a formal hemp kamishimo (ceremonial overvest and hakama) with an official insignia over a fukusa kosode (under-robe), and appeared in the palace (shogunal castle). While some said this was too casual for a person of the rank of kokurou (senior domain elder), others argued that, on the contrary, it was the right thing to do.
One: Hayashi Daigaku-no-kami — The entire residence collapsed; fifteen deaths among upper and lower retainers combined.
The Daigaku-no-kami himself was also crushed under the building in the sleeping quarters of the Katsura room, but he crawled out uninjured. His wife died. Retainers, manservants, and maidservants perished. At the residence of one Nanigashi Hachinosuke, the head of the academy, a maidservant also died.
One: Ōkubo Chikuzen-no-kami — All family members died instantly; numerous retainers also perished.
According to public rumor, his son (name unknown) survived unharmed, but since both the young lord and his wife died, there was talk that depending on circumstances, the family line might face extinction.

The lord himself was also pinned under the collapsed building, but escaped unharmed and reported to the castle the following day. He subsequently fell ill.

His wife died instantly. Many manservants and maidservants perished. Yasojirō himself suffered only injuries.

There were reports of people seen loading the dead onto carts to remove them. It was said that approximately six hundred or more people perished at the inner residence at Wadakura and at the Shinzenza residence.

The master initially fled to safety, but returned to the residence to retrieve money, and was ultimately crushed to death.

Of thirty doshin (low-ranking officers) in the unit, it was said that twelve household heads died. Yoriki (mounted police officer) Amano Jōuemon died. Including family members, the total came to over fifty deaths.
