私の在所である信州飯山において、去る月（三月）二十四日の亥の刻（午後10時）頃より大地震が発生し、城内の住居・門・囲い塀などが著しく破損し、家中（藩士）の屋敷・城下町・領内の村々においても家屋の倒壊が多数に及び、死者・怪我人も夥しい数にのぼっております。これに加え、出火もあり各所で焼失も生じております。現在もなお断続的に揺れが続いているとのことを、在所の役人たちから報告を受けました。詳細については追ってご報告申し上げますが、まずはこの段をお届け申し上げます。以上。

At my domain's territory in Iiyama, Shinano Province, a great earthquake struck around the Hour of the Boar (approximately 10 p.m.) on the twenty-fourth day of last month (the third month). The residences, gates, and surrounding walls within the castle suffered extensive damage, and the residences of retainers, the castle town, and the villages throughout the domain saw numerous buildings collapse, with a great many deaths and injuries. Fires also broke out, causing additional destruction in various locations. I have been informed by local officials that tremors continue intermittently even now. I shall report further details in due course, but I am hereby submitting this preliminary notice. Respectfully submitted.

At my domain's territory in Iiyama, Shinano Province, a great earthquake struck around the Hour of the Boar on the night of the twenty-fourth day of last month, as I previously reported. However, since that time the tremors have not ceased, and shaking has continued repeatedly, day and night.
The damage to the castle, retainers' residences, and castle town is as follows:
**Main Citadel (Honmaru):**
- Stone walls: collapsed in 2 locations throughout
- Connecting turret (watari-yagura): 1 location damaged
- Storehouse (dozō): 1 building half-collapsed
- Surrounding walls: entirely destroyed

- Residential quarters: half-collapsed
