一、私の知行所である信州更級郡のうち、塩崎村・今井村・氷絶村において、去る三月二十四日の夜、亥の刻頃より大地震があり、人家が震え倒壊し、人馬の死亡なども生じた由。同二十六日に至っても折々揺れが続いている趣き。また、この頃、塩崎村の国役御普請所（幕府普請場）も崩壊した旨、知行所に差し置いた家来より申し越してまいりました。詳細については追ってご報告申し上げるべきですが、まずはこの段をご報告申し上げます。以上。

[Continuation of damage report for the castle town]
- One building within the prison compound was destroyed by fire (however, the prisoners in the jail sustained no injuries).
- Six main halls of temple buildings (destroyed by fire and/or collapsed, combined).
- Six of the same, half-collapsed.
- Three gates, half-collapsed.
- Ten temple kitchen/administrative buildings (庫裏・表屋), half-collapsed.
- Seven of the same, half-collapsed or burned.
- Seventeen various halls and shrines, collapsed and/or destroyed by fire (combined).
The above is as reported; in addition, there are numerous cases of partially collapsed storehouses and the like, but investigations have not yet been completed.
- Immediate deaths among the townspeople of the castle town: 303 persons (breakdown: 138 male, 165 female).
- Additionally: 1 male hinin [non-person/outcast], 3 male and 2 female eta [outcaste], and 8 horses died.

In my domain territory in Shiozaki Village, Imai Village, and Hyūzetsu Village, within Sarashina District, Shinano Province, a great earthquake occurred from around the Hour of the Boar (亥の刻, approximately 9–11 p.m.) on the night of the 24th of last month, causing houses to collapse from the shaking and resulting in deaths among people and horses. I am informed that tremors continued intermittently even as of the 26th of the same month. Furthermore, I have received word from a retainer stationed in the domain that the government public works site (国役御普請所) at Shiozaki Village has also collapsed. While full details should be reported after further investigation, I humbly submit this preliminary notice for now.

In my domain territory of Matsumoto in Shinano Province, a great earthquake occurred from around the Hour of the Four (四つ時, approximately 10 p.m.) on the night of the 24th of last month. From the 25th onward, there has been no major obstruction, and the tremors have become more distant, yet they have not entirely ceased even now. The castle itself sustained no particular damage, but there are damaged sites at the samurai residences and various locations in the surrounding town. Regarding outlying areas, details are not yet clear, but I humbly submit this preliminary notice for now. Further details will be reported subsequently.
