右の村々に囲い置いていた籾蔵も同様に押し流され、あるいは泥水が流れ込んだため、囲い籾は使い物にならないでしょう。その他の村々の民家は押し流されるほどではございませんでしたが、田畑は一面に水が冠水いたしました。翌十四日の夜明けにかけて次第に水が引いてまいりましたが、突然の大水でございますので、人馬の溺死もあったかと存じます。その上、多くの亡所・損地も生じる見込みとのことを、在所の役人どもより申し越してまいりました。詳細については追って申し上げるべきところでございますが、伊賀守が現在大坂在勤中につき、まずはこの段をご届け申し上げます。以上。

**[Continuation of the report by Kataoka Kōrinosuke, retainer of Matsudaira Iga-no-kami]**
The rice storage granaries that had been enclosed and maintained in these villages were likewise swept away, or filled with muddy water, rendering the stored rice unusable. While the farmhouses in the other villages were not swept away to that degree, the farmlands and fields were entirely inundated with water. By dawn of the following 14th day, the water gradually began to recede; however, given the suddenness of the flooding, it is anticipated that there may have been deaths by drowning among both people and horses. Furthermore, it is reported that a great deal of land abandonment and damaged land is expected to result, as communicated to us by the local officials. Although the details should be reported in due course, since Iga-no-kami is currently stationed in Osaka, we hereby submit this preliminary notification. Respectfully submitted.

**[First Report by Sakakibara Shikibu-no-taifu]**
At my domain of Takada in Echigo Province, from around the Hour of the Boar (approximately 9–11 p.m.) on the night of the 24th day of last month (the 3rd month), a great earthquake struck. Residences, gates, and enclosure walls throughout the domain suffered damage; there was an enormous number of collapsed and damaged buildings in the samurai residences, castle town, and villages throughout the domain; injuries were sustained by both people and horses; and there were collapses and cave-ins at various points along the Hokuriku Highway. At the time of this report, detailed information has been communicated from the domain, but since the full particulars should be reported in due course, we hereby submit this preliminary notification. **[Second Report by Sakakibara Shikibu-no-taifu]**
Regarding the great earthquake that occurred from around the Hour of the Boar on the 24th day of last month in Takada, Echigo Province, as reported on the 4th of this month — since that time, the shaking has not ceased, and tremors have continued at intervals throughout the day and night. On the 29th of the same month, around the Hour of the Horse (approximately 11 a.m.–1 p.m.), a strong earthquake struck, and it has been communicated from the domain that the number of collapsed and damaged buildings has further increased, including rice storehouses, temples, shrines, and town residences. Although the full details should be reported in due course, we hereby submit this preliminary notification. Respectfully submitted.
