八日【見せ消し：甲】巳雨。暁天より母・慎子・経十等と同道し、例年のごとく小谷河原等へ墓参をさせた。亀四郎を召し連れた。
十三日【見せ消し：己巳】戊戌晴れ。当季の払い高は五百六十三匁一分である。
十四日【見せ消し：庚午】己亥曇り。今朝、経千が御家門中の御祝詞を申し上げたこと、例年のごとくである。○未知枝・経矩・叔千代等が中元の祝詞のため在所を回礼したこと、例年のごとし。石松を召し連れた。
十五日【見せ消し：辛未】庚子晴れ。若御所への中元の御参りや御廻り等、例年のごとくである。○午後、経午が中元の祝詞のため在所中を回礼させたこと。
十六日【見せ消し：壬申】辛丑晴れ。経千は除服後、今朝初めて参社させたこと、例のごとし。○この頃の伝聞によると、関東一橋殿が御隠居《割書：入道、実は大樹公の御父である》され、今度准大臣の宣下があることにつき、宣旨使として大外記が参向すべきところ、病気と称して断ったため、少外記《割書：山口》禹昌が参向し、来る二十二日に発駕するという。ただし関東で准大臣宣下のことは御当代初例といい、希代の例である。
十八日癸卯晴れ。一橋殿御隠居、今日准大臣陣の宣下という。○家父は当番で直参である。
二十四日己酉晴れ。経千はこの頃腫物が発生したため、今日より御家門の御番を御断り申し上げた。
二十六日辛亥晴れ。当番であるが、病気のため家翁が代勤された。

五日庚申晴れ。今日は神楽講六会目の前調につき、かねて回状が到来したが、病気のため不参となった。
九日甲子晴れ。御家門より、来る九月下旬に仙洞御所より古今御伝授があるであろう旨が仰せ出されたという趣を申し来た。即日、書中をもって恐悦を申し上げた。
十三日戊辰。神楽講六会目が例のごとく三本掛であったが、病気中につき不参。
十五日庚午風雨。放生会である。淀川筋は近年の大水で勅使の舟渡しがあるという。

8th day [crossed out: kinoe] mi, rain. From dawn, I accompanied mother, Shinko, and Tsunejū and others to visit graves at Kotani Kawara and other places as in previous years. I brought along Kameshirō.
13th day [crossed out: tsuchi-no-to-mi] tsuchinoe-inu, clear. The payment amount for this season was 563 momme and 1 bu.
14th day [crossed out: kanoe-uma] tsuchi-no-to-i, cloudy. This morning, Tsunachi offered congratulatory words within the family gate, as in previous years. ○ Michie, Tsunenori, Oji-Chiyo and others made courtesy rounds to various localities for mid-year felicitations, as usual. I brought along Ishimatsu.
15th day [crossed out: kanoto-hitsuji] kanoe-ne, clear. The mid-year visit and rounds to the Young Imperial Palace, etc., as in previous years. ○ In the afternoon, I had Tsuneuma make courtesy rounds throughout the localities for mid-year felicitations.
16th day [crossed out: mizunoe-saru] kanoto-ushi, clear. After his mourning period, Tsunachi made his first shrine visit this morning, as usual. ○ According to recent reports, Lord Hitotsubashi of Kantō has retired <<marginal note: entered Buddhist priesthood, actually the father of the Shogun>> and is now to receive the declaration of quasi-minister rank. A senior secretary should have gone as the imperial messenger, but claimed illness and declined, so Junior Secretary <<marginal note: Yamaguchi>> Usho will go, departing on the coming 22nd day. However, the declaration of quasi-minister rank in Kantō is said to be the first example of the current reign, a truly unprecedented case.
18th day, mizunoto-u, clear. Lord Hitotsubashi retired and today received the court declaration of quasi-minister rank. ○ My father was on duty for direct attendance.
24th day, tsuchi-no-to-tori, clear. Tsunachi developed a tumor recently, so from today he respectfully declined guard duty at the family gate.
26th day, kanoto-i, clear. It was my turn for duty, but due to illness, my father served as substitute.
Eighth Month (small)
5th day, kanoe-saru, clear. Today was the preliminary session for the sixth meeting of the kagura lecture. A circular notice had arrived beforehand, but I did not attend due to illness.
9th day, kinoe-ne, clear. From the family gate came word that it was announced that there would be imperial instruction in classical poetry from the Retired Emperor's Palace in late September. I immediately expressed my gratitude in writing on the same day.
13th day, tsuchinoe-tatsu. The sixth kagura lecture meeting was held at Sanbongake as usual, but I did not attend due to illness.
15th day, kanoe-uma, wind and rain. This is the Hōjō-e (release of living beings ceremony). Due to the great floods of recent years along the Yodo River, there is talk of the imperial messenger crossing by boat.
