共等夫々承之了而川瀬退出也但御領分庄屋年寄共へ
経千御勘定方本役被仰付候旨川瀬より以回状申達并御出入
方町人へ同断達之義は同氏より触頭小川伊勢方へ申遣伊勢ゟ

五日丙戌晴御殿より午刻斗退出掛御家中へ吹聴回勤残遠方
之向今参也○三手御講當三月五會目也経千元来掛リ
ニ候得共右之講掛三十人も有之ニ付初會催之後は多分不参
候處今度蔵奉行可俊より右御構勘定之義多人数ニ而
却而不締ニ付已来東手経益西中手経千同蔵奉行氏彦等

並びに御勤定所においては殊に相頼まれた。もっとも御勘定方の岡崎帯刀、加勢同主水等、この節帯刀が所労で引き籠もり中につき、川瀬主膳が両三日連番である。よって直様明日より当御役所へ出勤すべき旨を申した。御側席番頭山口外記へも右明日より御勘定所へ詰めることを申し届けた。未だ半刻ほどで退き、直様御家中へ右吹聴回礼の名札を持参した。その写しは以下の通りである。
今度御勘定方兼役を仰せ付けられ、御役料米一石を下し置かれ、有り難き仕合わせと存じ奉り候

右了えて夜に入り帰宅し、家翁が勤めているが、今日思いがけず右の通り仰せ付けられた旨を委しく吹聴申した。内実は御勘定頭に仰せ付けられた旨である。これまで御殿においては例のないことで、家内一統大慶限りなく、珍重なことである。○家内児女の雛祭り、祝酒等は例の通りである。
四日乙酉曇り 家父の当番代を勅使浄方へ相頼み了えた。○御家門、御勘定所へ今日より初めて本勤である。もっとも本勤の節は御前へ出て御機嫌を伺い、役所々々への届等はこれまでの通りである。次に同役川瀬より役所申し渡しの義並びに申し送りの事共等をそれぞれ承り了えて、川瀬は退出した。ただし御領分の庄屋年寄共へは、経千が御勘定方本役を仰せ付けられた旨を川瀬より回状をもって申し達し、並びに御出入方町人へも同断達することは同氏より触頭小川伊勢方へ申し遣わし、伊勢より回状をもってこれまた申し達した。云々。

After completing this, I returned home in the evening. Though my father was on duty, I informed him in detail of today's unexpected appointment. In reality, this was an appointment as head of accounting - something unprecedented at the palace, bringing unlimited great joy to the entire household. It is truly precious. ○ The household's children and daughters celebrated the Doll Festival with celebratory sake as usual.
4th day, Kinoto-Tori, cloudy: I arranged for someone to substitute for my father's duty shift with Chokushi Jōkata. ○ At the noble house, this was my first day of full service at the accounting office. Naturally, when serving in full capacity, I appeared before His Lordship to inquire after his health, and notifications to various offices proceeded as before. Next, I received various instructions for office procedures and matters to be conveyed from colleague Kawase, after which Kawase departed. However, regarding the village headmen and elders in the domain, Kawase sent a circular notice announcing Kesen's appointment to full accounting officer, and similarly for the merchant households doing business with the domain - this was conveyed through the same person to contact chief Ogawa Ise, who then distributed it via circular notice.
5th day, Hinoe-Inu, clear: I departed from the palace around the hour of the Horse, and the remaining courtesy visits to distant members of the retainer household came today. ○ This was the fifth monthly meeting of the Three-Division Lecture Society in the third month. Although Kesen was originally involved, since this lecture group has about thirty members, he mostly did not attend after the initial meeting.
