They had been corresponding, and there had already been visits last month. This morning a letter arrived from the woman's younger brother, Yoshida Chikara. Regarding the aforementioned Hisajo, she had been ill since the 27th of last month, but her condition did not improve and she passed away last night at the hour of the Rat. Upon receiving this news, I immediately went to the Ōyanagi family's Kyoto residence, offered my condolences, met with Yoshida Chikara, and sent one piece of silver as incense money. Although I should have handled all affairs, since this month is the festival month in our locality, I explained this situation and reluctantly returned home. 16th day, Hinoto-U, clear then rain: Okudaya of the three-beat style organized a self-funded lecture meeting and requested to join the kagura lecture group; today was the first meeting. One share was added from the Shintō lecture group, and among those involved, Tekken and Kyōsen went to attend, while Naoichi and Katoshi came from the organizing lecture group. 17th day, Tsuchinoe-Tatsu, clear, rain after noon: For inspection of land construction in Okazaki village, three people - chamberlains Sasaki and Sakamoto, and accountant Kyōsen - went out to conduct the survey. Then at the villa, since a lecture meeting was to be held this time, they invited temple officials and townspeople who owned villas within the same village domain to the villa and requested their participation in the lecture meeting respectively. They returned at the hour of the Monkey. 19th day, Kanoe-Uma, clear: I prepared the festival grand rounds this morning and sent them to the Chief Administrator. 21st day, Mizunoe-Saru, cloudy: For the purification flower lottery festival's imperial provisions preparation monthly ceremony, after breakfast I went in formal court dress with undergarments to the junior lodging quarters, completed the usual procedures in about half an hour of the Horse, and returned home. ○ Around the hour of the Monkey, my father, Kyōsen, Kyōki, uncle Chiyo, Saburō Yūtarō and others went together as usual to make the first shrine visit to the sacred birthplace, while Yasuko, Chiko and others visited the shrine after nightfall. 22nd day, Mizunoto-Tori, clear: This is the Hollyhock Festival. Imperial Guard Envoy Anenokōji Kimitsugu and his retinue visited our shrine around the half-hour of the Horse. Before this, Kyōsen waited at the Imperial Garden gate to receive them. Since Inner Treasury Assistant Namba Tsunenari was in attendance, I went to the rest area to offer congratulations and sent five throat portions of mackerel sushi and sake cups. When the Imperial Guard Envoy finished the ceremonies at the bridge hall, Kyōsen went to the shrine precincts as deputy administrator. ⟪Marginal note: Actually, before this, collar robes, standing court caps, document boxes, two prayer texts, one attendant, two shrine servants, vermillion umbrellas, shoes, etc. were sent to the shrine precincts in rotation, but originally the Chief Administrator should send servants and others to the residence to escort them; this was done due to special consideration⟫ He wore purification robes, hakama ⟪Marginal note: light purple plain silk⟫, collar robe ⟪Marginal note: red diamond brocade⟫, two-tone sash, standing court cap, hollyhock and katsura in a case, summer fan, and shoes - all the prescribed items for each position.
