趣申之神主返答ニ御同道可申由被申斐顕又云沓用意無之候間
是非先へ可出仕旨申神主云近例ハ多分御同道申候間沓可相廻旨
被申無間神主始出仕各神主亭ゟ着沓同道入切壁於板塀辺
乗尻之輩へ對輯入三鳥居神主別當ハ御所屋西階ゟ昇所司
代目代ハ東階ゟ昇依テ静ニ進経千先於東階下沓揖神主着
座之時分座ニ着座楫《割書：但随分後へ｜参着也》先是兼日頼置後見経威必顕
等麻上下帷子着用猶予東階之邊尤必顕ハ當年代官ニテ則五日
右方階下也是ゟ已下所司代勤方之記ニ委敷記之仍而此略之但検
断役於御所屋仮名検断持参之処品相違ニ付此方より渡置仮
名検断可取寄旨申付神主へ今日検断役書損之始末申入置無
程當方より渡置検断取寄処書損之侭有之仍而差掛り候事
故最初所受取之品ニ而為相済畢 所司代松平周防守殿
御馬當年初度也乗馬厚総紫替馬厚総紅何れも近年之立
派也且又毛付之時宮川庄乗尻祈顕乗形不法之義有之ニ付
毛付一段下ル也諸事如例相済退出之時如初御所屋ゟ着沓
於御所屋東邊神主ヘ各対揖了神主如近例神供直會無之ニ付
所司代目代別當検断等各相従退下於中大路■経千神主え
今日ハ神事無滞相済御御互ニ珍重之段挨拶申入相分れ改革草
履帰宅申半刻斗也即刻着次上下後見両人亭へ無滞相済
御苦労之旨挨拶ニ参酉刻斗検断役着麻上下入来今日仮名
検断書損ニ付不都合之始末不調法之段相断也巳来右様之
義無之様可相心得旨申聞帰也入夜神主より下部使来云今日
ハ無滞相済御互ニ日出度之旨申述扨又今日退出之砌近例ハ門前
迄被相従候様ニ存候今日無其義候此義心得之處一通相尋申度
現代語訳
趣旨を申し上げたところ、神主が返答で「ご同道申し上げる」旨を申された。斐顕がまた「沓の用意がございませんので、是非とも先へ出仕いたします」旨を申し上げた。神主は「近例では多分ご同道申し上げておりますので、沓を回すべき」旨を申された。間もなく神主を始めとして出仕し、各々神主邸から沓を着用して同道し、入切壁の板塀辺りで乗尻の輩に対して輯礼を入れ、三鳥居へ進んだ。神主・別当は御所屋の西階から昇り、所司代・目代は東階から昇った。これにより静かに進み、経千が先に東階の下で沓を脱いで揖礼し、神主が着座する時分に座に着座した《割書：但し随分後への参着である》。
これに先立ち、兼日頼み置いた後見の経威・必顕等は麻上下・帷子を着用してなお予の東階の辺りにいた。尤も必顕は当年の代官にて、すなわち五日の右方階下である。これより以下、所司代勤め方の記に委しく記してあるので、ここでは略す。但し検断役は御所屋で仮名検断を持参したところ、品が相違したため、こちらから渡し置いた仮名検断を取り寄せるべき旨を申し付け、神主へ今日検断役書損の始末を申し入れ置いた。
程なく当方より渡し置いた検断を取り寄せたところ、書損のままであった。そこで差し掛かっている事なので、最初に受け取った品にて相済ませることとした。
所司代松平周防守殿の御馬は当年初度である。乗馬は厚総紫、替馬は厚総紅で、いずれも近年の立派なものである。且つまた毛付の時、宮川庄乗尻の祈顕の乗り形に不法の義があったため、毛付が一段下がった。
諸事例の如く相済み、退出の時は最初の如く御所屋から沓を着用し、御所屋東辺で神主へ各々対揖を了えた。神主は近例の如く神供直会がないため、所司代・目代・別当・検断等各々相従って退下し、中大路で経千が神主へ「今日は神事滞りなく相済み、互いに珍重の段」挨拶を申し入れ相分かれ、草履に履き替えて帰宅した。申半刻ばかりである。
即刻、次の上下に着替え、後見両人の邸へ「滞りなく相済み、ご苦労」の旨挨拶に参った。酉刻ばかりに検断役が麻上下を着て入来し、今日の仮名検断書損につき不都合の始末・不調法の段を相断った。已来右様の義がないよう心得るべき旨を申し聞かせ帰った。
入夜、神主より下部の使いが来て「今日は滞りなく相済み、互いに慶出度い」旨を申し述べた。さてまた今日退出の砌、近例では門前まで相従われる様に存じているが、今日はその義がなかった。この義について心得の処を一通相尋ね申したい。

When I conveyed this intent, the Head Priest replied that he would "accompany us." Hideaki also said, "As I have no preparation for formal shoes, I must by all means proceed ahead to serve." The Head Priest said, "According to recent precedent, we usually accompany together, so the shoes should be circulated."
Soon the Head Priest and others began their service, each donning formal shoes from the Head Priest's residence and proceeding together. At the board fence area of the entrance wall, they performed courtesy bows to the Riding Officers and proceeded to the Third Torii. The Head Priest and Deputy ascended from the western steps of the Palace Building, while the Deputy Administrator and Deputy ascended from the eastern steps. Accordingly, proceeding quietly, Kyōsen first removed his shoes at the bottom of the eastern steps and performed a bow, taking his seat when the Head Priest was seated ⟪marginal note: however, this was quite a late arrival⟫.
Prior to this, the supervisors Kyōi and Hitsaaki, who had been requested beforehand, wore hemp formal dress and undergarments and remained near the eastern steps area. Particularly, Hitsaaki was the deputy official for this year, namely at the right side steps area for the 5th day. From here onward, detailed records are kept in the Deputy Administrator's duty records, so I abbreviate here. However, when the Inspector brought the provisional inspector's document to the Palace Building, there was a discrepancy in the items, so I ordered that the provisional inspector's document we had provided should be retrieved, and informed the Head Priest of today's circumstances regarding the Inspector's document damage.
Soon when the inspector's document we had provided was retrieved, it remained damaged. Since this was a pressing matter, it was decided to conclude with the items originally received.
Deputy Administrator Lord Matsudaira Suō-no-kami's horse was his first for this year. The riding horse had thick purple trappings, the spare horse had thick crimson trappings, both being splendid in recent fashion. Moreover, during the hair arrangement ceremony, there was improper conduct in Riding Officer Kiaki of Miyagawa-shō's riding form, so the hair arrangement was lowered by one level.
All matters concluded as usual. At the time of departure, as initially, formal shoes were worn from the Palace Building, and at the eastern side of the Palace Building, each performed courtesy bows to the Head Priest. Since the Head Priest had no divine offering banquet according to recent precedent, the Deputy Administrator, Deputy, Assistant, Inspector, etc., each withdrew accordingly. At Naka-ōji, Kyōsen offered greetings to the Head Priest saying "Today the divine services concluded without incident, mutually auspicious," then parted, changed to straw sandals, and returned home. This was about half past the Hour of the Monkey (3:30 PM).
Immediately, I changed into next-level formal dress and went to pay respects to both supervisors' residences, greeting them that "matters concluded without incident, thank you for your efforts." Around the Hour of the Cock (6 PM), the Inspector arrived wearing hemp formal dress and apologized for the inconvenient circumstances and negligence regarding today's damaged provisional inspector's document. I told him to be mindful that such matters should not occur in the future, and he departed.
After nightfall, a servant came from the Head Priest saying "Today concluded without incident, mutually congratulations." Also, regarding today's departure, I believe that according to recent precedent, one should be accompanied to the gate, but today this did not occur. I would like to inquire thoroughly about the understanding of this matter.
