英語訳
At Kawaguchiya inn, and after a short while, the head farmer of the same village as well as officials from Shikataniyama village came one after another to inquire. In the evening, sake was served. After nightfall, Sakaiya Shōbei arrived, and I immediately gave him one tan of Sendai-hira hakama fabric that had been bestowed from the palace. From myself, I sent one box of konpeitō confections from Osaka's Toraya.
Regarding the remaining matter of the silver negotiations, when we came to discussions, he expressed agreement on several points, but said that in any case rapid provision of silver would be difficult to undertake. In any event, he would come to Kyoto sometime in the latter half of next June and provide a response. Regarding the investigation of that Kanamura matter, he said that generally the retirement arrangements in the lower region have been completed and settled. Sake was served. Around the Hour of the Rat, everyone departed.
11th day, Hinoe-Inu, clear with occasional clouds - The ceremonial envoy from the east for this spring's conferment of the title of Chief Minister, Lord Ii Kamon-no-kami, arrived in the capital today, and so forth. ○ From around the Hour of the Snake, guided by Kodera village officials, I went to the southern capital [Nara] for the first time. Following the route, I first toured Tōdaiji temple, then visited Kasuga Shrine, and at a tea house called Kasugano in front of Mount Mikasa, sake was served and the midday meal concluded. From there I climbed once to Kōfukuji temple, and around the Hour of the Monkey returned to the Kizu inn. Five sweet potatoes were sent from Sakaiza, one bag of pounded rice from Kodera village residents, five sweet potatoes from Shikataniyama village residents, and five cotton mats from Shichizaemon, the village representative of Kodera. After nightfall, Sakai-shō and other officials came one after another and sake was served. During my stay, all provisions including sake and meals were hospitality from both Kodera and Shikataniyama villages.
12th day, Hinoto-I, cloudy then clear - At half past the Hour of the Rabbit I boarded a boat from Kizu; an official boat was arranged by Kodera village, and sake and meals were provided on board. Sakaiya Shōbei and other village officials each saw me off to the riverside. Past the Hour of the Horse I arrived by boat at Yodo Small Bridge, and before the Hour of the Monkey returned to the family residence. First I went before his lordship to inquire about his health, and presented one container of Kinzanji miso as a souvenir. I reported in detail various matters of official business to both offices. I returned home in the evening.
○ The eastern envoy Lord Matsudaira Etchū-no-kami came to the capital today, and so forth.
13th day, Tsuchinoe-Ne, clear and fine - Tsunehitsu is on shrine duty. My father served as substitute.
18th day, Mizunoto-Mi, clear - Today is the Imamiya Festival.
