河守直曾察相頼薬用之処至而軽キ由ニ候得共不安心ニ付
今日伊良子主税助方へ参残之令相談之處類癰と申程之
事ニも可有之噂ニ而何れ近〻父子之内一通り見舞可被
呉之趣也○瀬尾次郎子息源九郎へ松尾社司䟽流松室日
向妹縁組内約有之兼候媒介被相頼之處今日結納遣由
ニ付午刻斗瀬尾方へ参夫より日向旅宿下長者町室町
東へ入宅へ為近付行向両家依噂羽織袴着用供壱人召連
参祝酒可出之處狭少に付断有之蹴頭出條々挨拶了而
瀬尾方へ帰未刻斗使儀兵衛ヲ以結納遣酒肴料帯地等也
同家ニ而祝酒一献士夕刻帰宅了

十九日甲午曇天時々小雨 母の件で当月十日前より腫れ物ができ、十五日より駿河守に診察を相談し薬を用いたところ、至って軽いということであるが不安なため、今日伊良子主税助方へ参り、残りのことを相談したところ、類癰というほどのことでもあろうという噂で、いずれ近々父子のうち一通り見舞いをしてくれる趣である。○瀬尾次郎の子息源九郎へ松尾社司族流松室日向の妹との縁組みの内約があり、かねて媒介を頼まれていたところ、今日結納を遣わすということで、午刻頃瀬尾方へ参り、それより日向の旅宿下長者町室町東へ入る宅へ近付きのため行く。両家の噂により羽織袴を着用し供一人を召し連れて参る。祝酒を出すところであるが狭少のため断りがあり、挨拶のみ行い条々挨拶を了えて瀬尾方へ帰る。未刻頃、使者儀兵衛を以て結納を遣わす。酒肴料、帯地等である。同家にて祝酒一献をし、夕刻帰宅した。
二十日乙未曇後晴 夜に入り大雨が降る。早朝御家門より東福寺へ、富一件について予と主膳両人で行き、申刻に帰殿した。○この年院伝奏下冷泉殿の御跡役に高倉殿へ仰せ出されるという云々。
二十二日丁酉晴 松平越中守殿が今日御帰府である。
二十三日戊戌晴 井伊掃部頭殿が今日御帰府である。
二十五日庚子曇 精進頭人氏衡が今暁卒去し、志顕が補勤する。但し志顕は当月七日に従父の妹が死去したため解行していたところ、今日より補勤する。珍重なことである。右について志顕の神酒通があり招かれて参る。祝いの義として御酒一升を送った。

19th day, Kinoe-Uma, cloudy with occasional light rain - Regarding my mother's condition, a swelling appeared from before the 10th of this month, and from the 15th I consulted with Suruga-no-kami for examination and medicine. Though he said it was quite mild, I was still anxious, so today I went to Irako Chikara-no-suke's place to consult about the remaining matters. He said it might be something like a carbuncle according to rumors, and in any case, either father or son would come to visit soon. ○ There had been a preliminary agreement for the marriage between Seo Jirō's son Genkurō and the sister of Matsuo shrine priest family member Matsumuro Hyūga, and I had been asked to serve as go-between. Today the betrothal gifts were to be sent, so around the Hour of the Horse I went to the Seo residence, then went to Hyūga's lodging on the east side of Shimochōja-machi Muromachi to make the formal approach. Due to rumors from both families, I wore haori and hakama and brought one attendant. Though celebratory sake was to be served, due to cramped quarters this was declined, and after completing various greetings, I returned to the Seo residence. Around the Hour of the Sheep, I sent the betrothal gifts through the messenger Gihei - sake, food money, obi fabric, etc. At the same house we had one round of celebratory sake, and I returned home in the evening.
20th day, Hinoto-Hitsuji, cloudy then clear - Heavy rain fell after nightfall. In the early morning, both I and Shizen went from the family residence to Tōfukuji temple regarding the lottery matter, and returned to the residence at the Hour of the Monkey. ○ This year, Lord Takakura was appointed to succeed Lord Shimoreizei as court noble intermediary.
22nd day, Hinoto-Tori, clear - Lord Matsudaira Etchū-no-kami returned to Edo today.
23rd day, Tsuchinoe-Inu, clear - Lord Ii Kamon-no-kami returned to Edo today.
25th day, Kanoe-Ne, cloudy - The head of purification rites Ujihira died at dawn today, and Shiaki will serve as replacement. However, Shiaki had been released from duties due to his paternal aunt's death on the 7th of this month, but from today he resumes his duties. This is most fortunate. Regarding this matter, there was a sacred sake ceremony at Shiaki's, and I was invited to attend. As a congratulatory gesture, I sent one shō of sake.

5th day, Tsuchinoto-Tori, cloudy - The fourth procurement meeting for the family residence, held as usual at Okudaya in Sanbongi. The officials went at half past the Hour of the Snake, with one person each from both departments absent from this meeting. It concluded in the evening.
