The door opening ceremony was performed to inspect the inner sanctuary, and more details should be sought in the records. ○ Regarding Yasutoshi, the adopted son of the late Tsunaoka County Master of Ōtsu, due to circumstances of misconduct, he was temporarily placed with his biological father Yasunaka from the day before yesterday, the 23rd, as announced by Tsunetake. Regarding this matter, on the 21st there was a communication from Ōtsu to Tsunetake, and after he went to Ōtsu to hear the circumstances, he made the initial approach to Yasunaka through the original mediator Tsunesue, etc. 28th Day, Tsuchinoe-Tatsu, Clear: Regarding the lottery incident at Tōfukuji Temple, because Senchi had invited disaster in his duties at the Ichijō family, I consulted with Third Headman Hisaaki about prayers for seven days starting today. 29th Day, Tsuchinoto-Mi, Cloudy then Rain: Regarding the Tōfukuji lottery incident, concerning the detailed articles of His Lordship's intentions, the monks in charge of the temple have now again submitted objections. While the various officials of the financial department, led by Namba Bizen-no-kami, suggested this matter should be referred to the military authorities, the chamberlains and accounting officials unanimously disagreed because it involves honorary titles. Therefore, having no choice, both sides made their first formal report on this matter. Irie Awa-no-kami was ordered to conduct a comprehensive investigation of this case, and the entire financial department was ordered to submit a detailed one-on-one report by tomorrow morning regarding the sequence of events from the beginning and their thoughts. The content of the report submitted by Senchi was as follows: Regarding the Tōfukuji lottery matter, I have received instructions from the chamberlains at various times since last summer and have conducted negotiations with the monks in charge of the temple lottery through official channels. However, since this was entirely done with the unanimous agreement of the financial department, I have no particular intention to make a separate report. Surely the chamberlains will report in detail. I am not fully aware of the circumstances that preceded this. Therefore I respectfully submit this report. Oribe 29th Day of the First Month Last Day, Kanoe-Uma, Clear: This morning the written opinions of the entire financial department regarding the lottery incident were presented. After hearing both sides' investigations and responses, because the financial department failed to properly handle the matter, which led to confusion and formal complaints, Namba Bizen-no-kami and Chamberlain Secretary Sasaki Dazai-daikan were both ordered to feign illness and withdraw from now on, and their...
