**矢縄（やなわ）**
一房の長さは13尋、重さは270目ある。鯨を突いて引く時には、この綱を何筋も継いで使用する。
**羽矢銛全図（はねやもりぜんず）**
身の長さは2尺1寸、柄は樫で1丈2尺、矢縄13尋を付ける。身は軟鉄で作る。この羽矢銛は遠距離や素早い動作などに用いる。8、9間ほど離れながら投げ突くのである。

Alternatively, when a whale escapes from the net, thrusting with the feathered arrow harpoon will cause the whale to hesitate momentarily, at which time several harpoons can be thrust to capture it. Also, when capturing a whale with calf, the feathered arrow harpoon is first thrust into the calf to half-kill it, then the parent whale is taken.
