をのこ共の中にましりてよるをひるになして
とらしめ給ふくらつ丸かく申をいといたくよ

給ひて御そ【衣】ぬきてかつけ給ふつ？【「給ひつ」とあるところか】さらによさり
此つかさにまうてことの給ふてつかはしつ
日暮ぬれは彼つかさにおはして見給ふに誠つ
はくらめすつくれりくらつまろ申やうおう
けて【尾浮けて】めくる【廻る】あらこ【粗籠＝目のあらい籠】に人をのほせてつりあけさ
せてつはくらめのすに手を指入させてさくる
現代語訳
誰にも知らせなさらずに、密かに役所においでになって、男たちの中に混じって、夜を昼にして（夜通し働かせて）捕らえさせなさった。くらつ丸がこのように申し上げるのを、とてもひどくお喜びになっておっしゃった。「ここに遣わされる人もいないのに、願いを叶える事の嬉しさよ」とおっしゃって、お召し物を脱いでお着せになった。翌晩、この役所においでになって事をおっしゃって遣わした。日が暮れたので、あの役所においでになってご覧になると、確かに燕が巣を作っていた。くらつまろが申し上げることには、「尾を浮かせて廻る粗い籠に人を乗せて釣り上げさせて、燕の巣に手を差し入れさせて探らせる」
英語訳
Without informing anyone, he secretly went to the office and, mingling among the men, had them work through the night to catch [the swallows]. When Kuratsu-maru reported this, [his lord] was extremely pleased and said, "How joyful it is that my wish can be fulfilled when there is no one else to send here!" He removed his own garments and bestowed them upon him. The next evening, he went to this office, gave his orders, and dispatched [the men]. When evening fell, he went to that office to observe, and indeed the swallows had built their nests. Kuratsu-maro reported: "We will have a man ride in a coarse basket that can pivot and be raised up, and have him reach into the swallow's nest to search [for the jewel]."
