思い申し上げる」という翁。これを聞いて頼もしく思っていたところ、これを聞いてかぐや姫は身を隠して、守り戦うべき準備をした。しかしあの国の人を相手に戦うことはできないのである。弓矢で射られてしまうだろう。このように身を隠していても、彼の国の人々は皆諦めようとする。相戦おうとしても、彼の国の人には、きっと勇猛な心を使う人もいないであろう。翁の言うには「お迎えに来る人の髪を長く伸ばして、目玉を掴み潰そう。その髪を取って金槌で打ち落とそう。尻を掻き出して、これらの朝廷の人々に見せて、恥をかかせてやろう」と腹を立てている。このように

Even if they tried to fight, among the people of that country, there would surely be no one with a valiant spirit. The old man said: "I will let the hair of those who come to fetch her grow long, grab and crush their eyeballs, take their hair and strike them down with a metal hammer, scratch out their buttocks, and show this to these court officials to shame them"—he was getting angry in this way.
