消えぬ頼りも風のようで、馴れ親しんだ露の身はいったいどうなってしまったのだろう。
さて、寿永三年三月下旬、屋島の合戦で敗れてから、平家の武士である悪七兵衛景清は世を忍んで生き延び、頼朝公を付け狙っていたが、真の情状を古い出来事として御仁心に感じ入り、源家の栄華を見るのも口惜しいとして、御前において両眼をくり抜いて盲目となって、日向の宮崎に引きこもり、地名をそのまま日向行当と名乗ったという。
ここまでの話は実にまじめな作品だと思われるでしょうが、もう一枚めくってごらんなさい。

Now, in the third year of Juei (1184), in late March, after the defeat at the Battle of Yashima, the Heike warrior Akushichi Hyōe Kagekiyo survived by living in hiding and stalked Lord Yoritomo. However, moved by true compassion from ancient events and finding it mortifying to witness the prosperity of the Minamoto clan, he gouged out both his eyes before his lord, became blind, and withdrew to Miyazaki in Hyuga, taking the place name directly as his new name, Hyuga Kōtō.
