弱有之小縣佐久両郡ハ余㔟二而潰候程之家居も無之夫二而も
平常之地震ニ引競候へ者大地震とも可申哉之由

現代語訳

往還筋では同様に潰れた家屋と死者があり、まだ取り片付けもできかねる場所もある。丹波島から善光寺辺りでは今でも臭気が甚だしく、往来の者が鼻を覆うという状況である。

今回の地震の様子は、信濃国水内郡が震源と見られ、山崩れや地割れが激しく、また一村全てが潰れた場所もある。高井・更級・埴科・筑摩・安曇の五郡では同様に崩れ潰れた家が多い場所もあるが、まずは枝葉の状況である。その中でも地域によってか強弱があり、小県・佐久両郡では余程のことで潰れるほどの家屋もなく、それでも平常の地震と比べれば大地震とも言えるだろうということである。

越後国でも同様に大地震があったということだが、断片的で区々であり、事実は一向に分からない。

The nature of this earthquake appears to have originated in Minochi District of Shinano Province, with severe landslides and ground fissures, and some villages were completely destroyed. In the five districts of Takai, Sarashina, Hanishina, Chikuma, and Azumi, there are many places with collapsed and destroyed houses, but these are secondary effects. Even within these areas, there are variations in intensity depending on the location. In Chiisagata and Saku districts, there were no houses that collapsed except under extreme circumstances, but even so, compared to ordinary earthquakes, this could be called a great earthquake.

Echigo Province is said to have experienced a similar great earthquake, but reports are fragmentary and scattered, so the actual situation is completely unclear.
