（前頁より続く）北国往還筋は同様に潰れた家や死人があり、いまだ片付けもできかねている場所もある。丹波島から善光寺あたりは今も臭気が甚だしく、往来する者が鼻を覆うとのことである。

一、此度の地震の模様は、信濃国水内郡が根本（震源・震災の中心）と見られ、山崩れ・地割れが夥しく、また一村まるごと潰れた場所もある。高井・更級・埴科・筑摩・安曇の五郡は同様に崩れや潰家が多い場所もあるが、まず枝葉（周辺部）の様相であり、その中でも地の条件によってか被害の強弱がある。小県・佐久の両郡は勢いが弱く、家が潰れるほどの被害はなかった。それでも普段の地震と比べれば大地震とも言うべきものであろうとのことである。

一、越後国も同様に大地震であったとのことだが、風聞がまちまちで、事実は一向に判明していない。

From Tabashima to the vicinity of Zenkōji, the stench is still so severe that travelers cover their noses, it is reported.

Item: The nature of this earthquake appears to have its origin (epicenter and center of destruction) in Mizuchi District of Shinano Province, where landslides and ground fissures are numerous, and there are locations where entire villages have been completely destroyed. The five districts of Takai, Sarashina, Hanishina, Chikuma, and Azumi similarly have many places with collapses and destroyed houses, but these present more the appearance of peripheral (secondary) damage; even within these areas, the severity varies depending on local ground conditions. In Chiisagata and Saku districts, the force was weaker and there were no houses destroyed by collapse. Even so, compared with ordinary earthquakes, this too might well be called a great earthquake.

Item: It is said that Echigo Province likewise experienced a great earthquake, but reports vary and the facts remain entirely unclear.
