河川下流の村々は水押し（洪水）になると恐怖し、
山へ上り、または他所へ逃げた。

平林

長井・平林両村の村里が、
山の中腹から割れて
犀川へ崩れ落ち、人家・
樹木がそのままの状態で（崩落し）
川上は湖水となった。

（川をせき止めている崩落土砂の）幅は八丁ほどとのこと
高さは八・九十間ほど
現時点で（せき止められた）水面は三十間ほど

The riverbed had dried up (due to the dam),
but villages downstream feared flooding (from a potential dam breach),
and fled to the mountains or escaped to other places.

Nagahira (area)

In both Nagai and Hirabayashi villages, the villages
split apart from mid-slope of the mountain
and collapsed into the Sai River; houses and
trees fell in just as they stood.
Upstream, (the river) became a lake.

The width (of the landslide dam) is said to be about 8 chō.
The height is about 80–90 ken.
Currently, the water surface (above the blockage) is about 30 ken.

The width (of the lake) is 5–6 chō,
or in some places
14–15 chō.

The villages in this vicinity — 15 villages in total — have become submerged,
and their houses have been washed away.
The length (of the lake) is said to be 6–7 ri.
