現代語訳

【右丁】
カヤツリグサ　春に生えて冬に枯れる。田野や道端に非常に多い。葉の形はスゲに
　似て小さく、幅一分または一分半、長さ八、九寸。肥沃な土地のものは
　一、二尺に及び、三角形をなす。深緑色で光沢がある。
　夏に茎を出すこと一尺、肥沃な土地のものは二尺余りに至る。三稜
　で頂上に三枚の葉を生やす。長短があり、長いものは茎につく葉よりも
　長い。その中に穂を生じて小さな花が房状に群生する。イグサの花によく似
　ている。茶色で見栄えがしない。コウブシと同類別種である。
　コウブシは苗が小さくて根に塊があって根は枯れない。モサソウは苗が大
　きくて根に塊がなくて枯れる。
　　　　　主な効能
　　△甘味、微寒、毒なし。気鬱を散らし、痰熱を下す。

Kayatsurigusa　Grows in spring and withers in winter. Very abundant in fields and roadsides. The leaf shape resembles Suge
　but smaller, width one bu or one and a half bu, length eight to nine sun. Those in fertile soil
　reach one to two shaku, forming a triangular shape. Deep green color with luster.
　In summer, stems emerge up to one shaku, those in fertile soil reach over two shaku. Triangular
　with three leaves growing at the top. There are long and short varieties, the long ones are longer than the leaves attached to the stem.
　Among them, spikes form and small flowers cluster together. Very similar to Igusa flowers.
　Brown in color and not attractive to look at. Same family but different species from Kōbushi.
　Kōbushi has small shoots with root tubers that don't wither. Mosasō has large shoots
　with no root tubers and withers.
　　　　　Main properties
　　△Sweet taste, slightly cold, non-toxic. Disperses qi stagnation and reduces phlegm-heat.
