現代語訳

【右丁】
キビ　品種は多い。粘らないものを稷といい、粘るものをモチキビ（中国名：黍）という。総称してコキビ（大和本草）ともいう。実の皮に赤・白・黒の品種がある。苗の形状はすべて同じである。五月に種を蒔き、畑で多く栽培する。葉の形は粟に似て少し幅が広い。高さは三～四尺。六～七月に梢の頭部に穂を生じる。粟の穂とは違い、細い条が多く分かれ、細かい種子が群生する。形は円くなく先が尖り、銀杏の形に似て大きさは一分ほど、光沢がある。実が熟すと苗は枯れる。

主な効能
△甘温、毒なし。胃腸を補い気を益し、胃の働きを良くし、下痢を止める。

Kibi (Millet)　There are many varieties. Those that are not sticky are called shoku, and sticky ones are called mochi-kibi (Chinese name: shǔ). Collectively they are also called ko-kibi (from Yamato Honzō). The seed husks come in red, white, and black varieties. The seedling forms are all the same. Seeds are sown in the fifth month and mostly cultivated in fields. The leaf shape resembles foxtail millet but is slightly wider. Height is three to four shaku. In the sixth to seventh months, ears develop at the top of the shoots. Unlike foxtail millet ears, many thin branches divide and fine seeds cluster together. The shape is not round but pointed at the tip, resembling the shape of a ginkgo nut, about one bu in size, with luster. When the seeds ripen, the plant withers.

△Sweet and warm, non-toxic. Strengthens the stomach and benefits qi, improves stomach function, and stops diarrhea.
