現代語訳

【右丁】
キリンソウ　春に旧根から苗を生じる。一つの根から群生し、高さは一尺ほど。形はベンケイソウのようで小さく、葉には粗い鋸歯があって色は薄緑、また小さな鋸歯で深い緑色のものもある。どちらも四～五月頃に茎の頭部に黄花が群生する。五弁で先が尖り、ステグサの花に似て大きい。大きさは四～五分。茎は太いが非常に弱く四方に倒れる。しかし生命力は非常に強い草で、切り捨てて放置しても良く根を出す。ベンケイソウやステグサの類の強さと同様である。

Kirinso (Sedum)　In spring, new shoots grow from old roots. They grow in clusters from a single root, about one shaku in height. The form resembles benkei-so but smaller, with coarse serrated edges on the leaves and pale green color, and there are also varieties with small serrations and deep green color. Both types produce clustered yellow flowers at the stem tips around the fourth to fifth months. The flowers have five petals with pointed tips, resembling sute-gusa flowers but larger. The size is four to five bu. The stems are thick but very weak and fall over in all directions. However, it is a plant with very strong vitality that readily puts out roots even when cut and left abandoned. Its strength is like that of benkei-so and sute-gusa varieties.
