現代語訳

【右丁】
ガンピ　春に宿根から苗を生じる。円い茎で高さ一二尺、叢生する。葉の形は千日紅（センニチコウ）の葉に似て先端が尖り硬い。葉のつくところで茎に節があり、二葉が対生する。五六月に茎の頭に花を開く。五弁で形は石竹花に似て紅黄色、また白花もある。また赤白の間色等の数品種がある。共に花の後に莢を生じる。石竹と同じで少し大きい。実が熟して深秋に苗が枯れる。一種で「フシ」というものがある。「クロブシ」の略称という。一名「逢坂草（アフサカソウ）」という。状態は同じで節が黒く、葉の裏も紅紫色である。花は赤い。また「シロブシ」「サクラブシ」「ヌケブシ」「ムラサキブシ」等の数品種がある。

Ganpi　In spring it produces seedlings from perennial roots. Round stems 1-2 shaku tall, growing in clusters. The leaf shape resembles sennichikō (globe amaranth) leaves, with pointed tips and hard texture. Where leaves attach, the stem has nodes with two leaves growing opposite each other. In the fifth and sixth months it opens flowers at the stem tip. Five petals with a shape resembling dianthus flowers, in reddish-yellow color, and there are also white flowers. There are also several varieties in red-white mixed colors and others. All produce pods after flowering. Similar to dianthus but slightly larger. The fruit ripens and the seedlings wither in late autumn. There is one variety called "Fushi." It is said to be an abbreviation of "Kurobushi." Also called "Ōsaka-sō (Aufusaka-sō)." The form is the same but the nodes are black and the undersides of leaves are also reddish-purple. The flowers are red. There are also several varieties such as "Shirofushi," "Sakurafushi," "Nukefushi," and "Murasakifushi."

△ Sweet and cold, non-toxic. Promotes urination.
