現代語訳

【右丁】
旋覆花　溝辺や路傍、あるいは園圃の間に非常に多い。一度種を蒔けば翌年から各所に苗を生じて繁殖する。葉の形は細長く、長さ二三寸、幅七八分ほど。苗の高さは二三尺で、葉は互生する。夏の終わりに茎の先端に枝を分かち、花を開く。単弁で大きさは一寸ほど、黄色い中心を持つ菊花に似ているが、花弁は非常に細い。また筒状の花弁のものもあり、千弁のものもある。また一種で千弁だが小さいものがあり、シナノギクという。これは葉も狭く細い。共に晩秋に苗は枯れるが、根は年を経るごとにますます繁茂する。

主な効能
△苦甘辛で毒はない。中を補い、気を下し、水腫を治す。

Xuanfuhua (Inula britannica)　Very abundant along ditches, roadsides, or between garden plots. Once planted, it produces seedlings in various places from the following year and propagates. The leaf shape is elongated, 2-3 sun long and about 7-8 bu wide. The plant height is 2-3 shaku with alternately arranged leaves. At the end of summer, it branches at the stem tips and opens flowers. Single-petaled, about 1 sun in size, resembling chrysanthemum flowers with yellow centers, but the petals are very fine. There are also varieties with tubular petals and others with thousand petals. There is also one variety that is thousand-petaled but small, called Shina-no-giku (China chrysanthemum). This has narrow and fine leaves as well. Both varieties have seedlings that wither in late autumn, but the roots become increasingly luxuriant with each passing year.

Primary properties
△ Bitter, sweet, pungent, non-toxic. Supplements the center, descends qi, and treats edema.
