此書（このしよ）は人皇（にんわう）一百八代 後陽成院天皇（ごやうぜいいんてんわう）天正十五年ゟ一百九代 後水尾院天皇（こみづのをのいんてんわう）元
和二年まで三十年の間（あいだ）の治乱（ぢらん）事政（じせい）の沿革（かはり）名人（めいじん）達士（たつし）詩歌（しか）連誹（れんはい）香茶（かうちや）名僧（めいそう）
知識（ちしき）の伝記（でんき）神社（しんしや）仏閣（ぶつかく）の興廃（こうはい）金銀米銭（きんぎんべいせん）の差分（さぶん）くはしく記（しる）して漏（もら）すことなし

現代語訳

【右丁】
犬蓼（イヌタデ）　品種が多い。水辺や道端に多く生える。蓼に似ているが辛味がなく、食用としないものを皆イヌタデという。またはカワラタデとも言う。葉が長くて青蓼のようなものがあり、葉が広くて長いものがあり、また短いものもある。秋になって紅葉が美しいものがある。また葉の中央左右に対して黒い斑点があるものを河州ではスッポンノタデ、漢名では墨記草という。この斑点には大小濃淡の種類があり、また八の字の形になるものもある。また青蓼に似て葉の半分が黒いものがある。味は非常に辛い。茎・葉・穂ともに秋になって深紅色となる。俗にホウタデという。ともに七月以降に穂を生じる。形は蓼の花と異なることはない。花の後に実が熟して苗は枯れる。実が落ちて春に自然に生える。

　　　△主な効能　辛温で毒はない。腸中の蛭虫を取り除き、身体を軽くする。

《新刻増補　万代早引節用集大成　真字附　全二冊》

節用集の善本は数多くの版で世に便利なことこの上ないが、時々当用の文字が足りないことがあって、靴を隔てて痒い所を掻くような思いで遺憾に思うことが少なくない。この度、宮田先生が丹精込めて苦心の功を積んで、その足りない雅俗の文字を集録し、なお諸人の日用の事を数多く増加して新板大成をなした。諸君は必ず座右に置いて高覧を賜らんことを希い願うばかりである。

《増修　続王代一覧　正篇三十五冊　初帙十冊》

この書は人皇百八代後陽成院天皇の天正十五年から百九代後水尾院天皇の元和二年まで三十年間の治乱・政治の変遷・名人・達士・詩歌・連俳・香茶・名僧・知識の伝記・神社仏閣の興廃・金銀米銭の差分を詳しく記して漏らすことがない。ただし原書は出所を挙げていなかったのを、柳菴先生がことごとくその本書を引用記録してくださったので、一事一句まで疑わしいことはない。座右第一の考古の小史と言うべきである。続篇は元和三年からと知るべし。

Dog knotweed (Inutade)　There are many varieties. They grow abundantly by waterside and roadsides. Similar to knotweed but without pungent taste, all those not used for food are called inutade. Also called kawaratade. Some have long leaves like blue knotweed, some have broad and long leaves, and others have short ones. Some have beautiful autumn foliage. Those with black spots on the left and right of the leaf center are called suppon-no-tade in Kawachi Province, with the Chinese name bokki-sō. These spots come in varieties of large and small, dark and light, and some form the shape of the character "eight" (八). Some resemble blue knotweed but with half-black leaves. The taste is very pungent. Stems, leaves, and spikes all turn deep crimson in autumn. Commonly called hōtade. Both produce spikes from July onwards. The form is no different from knotweed flowers. After flowering, the seeds ripen and the seedlings die. Seeds fall and grow naturally in spring.

This book details without omission the thirty years from the 15th year of Tenshō under the 108th human emperor, Retired Emperor Go-Yōzei, to the 2nd year of Genna under the 109th emperor, Retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo, covering political upheavals, governmental changes, famous persons, accomplished men, poetry, linked verse, incense and tea ceremony, eminent monks, learned men's biographies, the rise and fall of shrines and temples, and differences in gold, silver, rice, and money. However, since the original work did not cite sources, Master Ryūan has thoroughly cited and recorded all the source books, so there is nothing dubious down to each event and phrase. This should be called the foremost historical reference for one's desk. Know that the continuation begins from the 3rd year of Genna.
