現代語訳

【右丁】
オドリソウ　竹林の中に多くある。また道のそば、陰地にも生える。
　八月より旧根から苗を生じる。方茎（四角い茎）で両葉が相対し、円形で先端が
　尖り、鋸歯がある。冬の間は茎が太くなく、高さ五、六寸。春二、三
　月に至れば高さ一、二尺、茎の末が太くなる。葉の間に花を開
　く。節ごとに数多く群生する。長さ七、八分で笠をかぶり、尺八を
　吹く形のようである。故にコモソウ花の名がある。淡紅色、また白花も
　ある。小児が茎を切り葉を取り去り、二節の花を残し、茎の真ん中に穴
　を開け、竹枝の細いものを通し、口で吹けばくるくる
　と回るのを楽しむ。故に風車の名がある。夏に至り茎が枯
　れる。根は枯れない。
　　　　　主な効能
△苦味微温、毒なし。腫れ物を消し、気力を益す。婦人の産前産後に服して効果がある。

【Right page】
Dead-nettle　Found abundantly in bamboo groves. Also grows beside roads and in shady places.
　From the eighth month, it produces shoots from old roots. It has square stems with opposite leaves that are round with pointed
　tips and serrated edges. During winter the stems are not thick, with a height of five to six sun. In spring, during the second and third
　months, it reaches a height of one to two shaku, and the stem ends become thick. Flowers open between the leaves.
　They grow in clusters at each node. Seven to eight bu long, like wearing a hat and
　playing a shakuhachi flute. Hence it has the name "priest's hood flower." Pale pink in color, and there are also white flowers.
　Children cut the stems, remove the leaves, leave flowers on two nodes, make a hole in the center of the stem,
　thread a thin bamboo branch through it, and blow with their mouths to make it spin
　around for amusement. Hence it has the name "pinwheel." In summer the stems wither
　and die. The roots do not die.
　　　　　Main properties
△Bitter, slightly warm, non-toxic. Reduces swellings and increases vital energy. Effective when taken by women before and after childbirth.
