【右丁】
藺（イ草） 原野の湿った低地に生える。池沢のそばにも多い。自然に生えるものは苗が短い。
　水田に植えて栽培すれば五尺にも達する。形状は葉がなく、茎ばかりである。
　四月頃、茎の中ほどより枝を生じ穂をなす。稷（キビ）の実を小さくした
　ような形で茶色である。下垂せず、実が落ちて生えやすい。この茎を採り乾燥
　させて筵（むしろ）に織る。諸国に多い。またこの草の中の白い髄を出して灯火に
　用いるものを灯心（とうしん）という。一名でトウシミ《和名抄》　トウスミ《伊勢国》　ジミ《肥前》
　トウジミ《同上》　イノミ《佐渡》　トウシメ《南部》　トウスン《出雲》という。一
　種でコビゲ《中国名：石龍芻》というものがある。灯心（イ）草より細くて短い。このものを
　水田に植えて席に作る。その草が繊細で細かい故、席は非常に緻密である。【修？】
　後にこのもので席を織り出す。備後席（表）といって席中の最上品である。

Rush (igusa) Grows in moist lowlands of fields and plains. Also abundant beside ponds and marshes. Those that grow naturally have short shoots.
　When planted and cultivated in rice fields, they can reach five shaku in height. In form, they have no leaves, only stems.
　Around the fourth month, they produce branches from the middle of the stem and form ears. They are shaped like small
　millet seeds and are brown in color. They do not droop, and the seeds fall easily and readily sprout. These stems are harvested and dried
　to weave into mats. They are abundant in various provinces. Also, the white pith from inside this grass is extracted for use in lamps,
　called tōshin (lamp wick). Alternative names include Tōshimi《Wamyōshō》, Tōsumi《Ise Province》, Jimi《Hizen》,
　Tōjimi《same as above》, Inomi《Sado》, Tōshime《Nambu》, Tōsun《Izumo》. There is one
　variety called kobige《Chinese name: Juncus effusus var. decipiens》. It is thinner and shorter than lamp rush (igusa). This variety is
　planted in rice fields to make mats. Because the grass is fine and delicate, the mats are extremely dense. [Shū?]
　Later, mats woven from this material are called Bingo-omote and are considered the finest quality among mats.

　　△Sweet and cold, non-toxic. Stops nosebleeds, promotes circulation of qi, and disperses edema.
