落雁は中の町にて松風が有平糖との立ち引きを無念に思い、仕返しをしようと土手に待っている所へ、その場に立ち聞きしていた侍が落雁の側に行き当たったため、口論になり、何なく取って引き据え、編み笠を取れば以前使いしていた金平糖なり。

Rakugan was resentfully waiting on the embankment in Naka-no-cho, planning revenge for Matsukaze's dispute with Aruheitou, when the samurai who had been eavesdropping approached Rakugan's vicinity. This led to an argument, and the samurai easily grabbed and subdued him. When he removed the woven hat, it was revealed to be Konpeitou, whom he had employed before.
